Description of 1965 Chevrolet C-10 |
Time to move on to another project. I purchased this truck in pieces about 7 years ago. Spent the last 5 building it into anextremelyreliablecruiserfor events like Cruising the Coast. Have really enjoyed it and always gets thumbs up wherever you go. Now for specifics: Body is very nice with original sheetmetal (except mods like on the bed). This truck has had no replacement panels and is virtually rust and damage free. Original cab corners, fenders, floorboards, etc. Its many years unfinished sitting in shops kept it out of the elements. Lots of cool metal work including metal console, filled dash, all metal bedfloor, etc. Power steering, power disc/drum brakes, power windows (1-piece). Frame is Z'd front and back giving nice lowered stance with full suspension travel. Drives like a car. Engine is a GM 290 HP crate motor with Edelbrock intake, 575 Demon Carb, headers, etc. It's a stock motor for reliability and all day cruising with the AC on. Vintage Air runs nice and cold. It has heater but I never ran the hoses as I'm in Louisiana - seldom needed it... Trans is a Turbo 350 with a shift kit. Shifts nice and firm. Engine runs 180 - 195 degree all day long in Louisiana heat with the AC on. 12 bolt rear with 3:08 gears. Lots of cool mods like the rear-end treatment, 1966 Chevelle buckets seats, tilt GM column. Radio/CD player is on tunnel between seats with remote and iPhone attachments. Paint is about 5 years old and shows well. It has some nicks and scratches as I drive this truck every chance I get. Its just cool to tool around in. All that is wrong is speedo cable is broke and I've been too lazy to get under it this summer. It needs lower door panels with vinyl or carpet. This is a great driver and ready to roll to any event. Have driven it to Cruisin the Coast several times and participated in the first leg of this years HotRod Power Tour. Very solid truck that will not disappoint. I'm just ready to build my '66 Vette waiting in the garage and wife says something has to go. |
