Description of 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS clone |
This car did not have a motor. and was in very bad shape when I got it. This was originally a 6 cylinder car with only 2549 being produced in 1966. Of those I'm am sure not many convertibles came with factory AC. I am working on other projects so I am selling this rare convertible SS clone. I did not plan on selling this car. so there are some small items that need to be done on the car. The car has factory AC which is rare in itself but I have not installed a compressor for it. I do have the original condenser. but it is not installed. The turn signal switch is loose. the windshield wiper switch needs replaced. I designed and installed a custom gage cluster. The speedometer was replaced with a programmable one that picks up a digital signal from the transmission. When I replaced a 700R4 with a turbo 350 I had to install a digital signal converter for the transmission output. The speedometer is not reading the signal at this time because I believe the nylon gears may need to be replaced. The front bucket seats are not original. but I have just redone 2 original 1966 Chevelle bucket seats that will go with the car as well. I have installed all new break lines and shoes and pads. New fuel lines and filters. new 350cid crate engine from JEGS with holly carb and intake. The rear end is out of a 1967 Buick skylark. It would probably be easier to tell you what is not new which is the transmission. The trunk floor was not replaced and has some rust holes in it. The frame has one spot behind the drivers side door that has a rust hole about the size of my thumb that needs to be welded closed. It also has a new top with new hydraulic cylinders. lines and pump. I built this car to be driven to the drive in show. and to take my family out on nice evening drives through the country side. If you don't mind having all sorts of people come up and make nice comments about the car. I literally was chased down and followed several times this past summer. I had all ages from 16 years old to folks in the 90s come up and talk to me about the car. That being said it really doesn't matter to me one way or the other if this sells or not because I really don't need the money for my next project that bad. The mileage is unknown because the original speedometer could not be read. |
