Description of 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle |
You are bidding on the ultimate Show/Pro-Street True LS6 2 owner 1970 Chevelle SS. To start off this Chevelle SS LS6 was purchased new in Texas and was always a drag car. The original owner blew the 454/450 horse back in the early 80’s. After that a 454 block was installed and the car continued to be on the track until the early 2000's when I purchased the car. The car was featured on PINKS All Out and the run it made was the last time the car was on the track. I purchased the car and it underwent a complete Frame off restoration back in 2002, I converted the car into what you see now, a streetcar with more power than you can imagine. The paint and body were completely redone and it was the only repaint on the car. The color is PPG Cardinal Red, the entire body was taken off the frame, the frame was sandblasted and painted, the entire underbody was painted the same PPG Cardinal Red and Cleared over and it looks amazing. All of the panels were removed, new quarters were installed, a custom smooth trunk was installed for the shows. A custom fiberglass cowl induction hood was installed with the hole cut for the blower. The entire car was painted with 5 coats of base coat, and then cleared over 4 times and wet sanded to a mirror finish as you can tell by the pictures. The paint job is amazing and has held up well throughout the years, there is NO RUST and NO BONDO on this car it is straight as an arrow and has no waves at all. There are some small flaws such as nicks that have come up throughout the years but nothing major as you can tell by the pictures. It will hold its own at any car show and it still one of the nicest 1970 Chevelle SS you will find. All of the chrome and stainless along with the emblems were replaced back in 2003 and still look like new. Just has new taillight lenses installed as well. All the lights, turn signals, etc. work as they should. The 454 was taken out and completely machined and rebuilt. A complete eagle 4340 rotating assembly was installed with Clevite 77 main bearings. Eagle H-Beam 4340 Connecting rods, J&E blower pistons set up for 8 ½ to 1 compression ratio. Complete ARP bolts throughout the bottom end. High volume oil pump runs 70 PSI, 4-Bolt splayed main caps, 8-quart oil pan with dual remote oil filter set up. Comp 280 duration blower camshaft was installed, I have the cam card for the new owner. Rectangular port Hi-Po GM heads were extensively ported with 2.30 valves installed and a complete roller valve train. The new 6:71 Polished Leo Blower was then installed and studded to the intake and it is currently set up to a safe 10 lbs of boost, but can be turned up as the engine was built right. Car currently makes 742 horsepower to the rear tires and is an absolute blast to run on the street. Complete chrome kit was installed; new chrome 100 amp alternator was installed with March brackets and new belts. Hooker Super Competition headers were installed with custom 3” Exhaust and car sounds like a monster. There are only about 500 street miles on the engine since completed. The entire engine bay was painted the same Cardinal Red PPG and cleared over as the rest of the car when the engine was removed and it looks stunning. Trans is the original Turbo 400 all rebuilt with 3800 mini stall, complete manual valve body, hardened input shaft, billet internals, shifts like butter and is rated for 1100 horsepower. B&M Pro-Stick shifter is installed for precision shifts. Again only about 500 street miles on the transmission since the rebuild. Rear is the original 12-Bolt all set up with welded axle tubes, strangle 33 spline axles, 3:73 richmond gear, eaton posi-unit, rear girdle, heavy duty bearings and seals, complete ladder bar traction set up. New suspension including new shocks, new springs, new ball joints, etc. Everything was replaced. Fuel system was all redone with factory gas tank installed, all stainless and AN fittings front to rear, new dual port fuel pressure regulator, new dual 750 CFM blower Holley carburetors, new fuel carburetor lines. Cooling this beast is a custom 1000 horse capacity Champion all aluminum 4-Core radiator with polished high volume water pump, all new hoses, dual electric fans, 160 thermostat, car does not run hot, hottest it has been is 180 in rush hour traffic. I just had a complete new interior installed including new door panels front and rear. New rear lower panels, new factory correct bucket seats, new weatherstripping, new door handles, new window cranks, new sill plates. Rest of the interior was replaced back in 2000 and still looks like new, the carpet has 4 small holes from the roll cage that was installed and I had it removed. Still has the factory SS dash installed with the LS6 6500 RPM Redline tach. Dash is in excellent original shape. When the interior was installed the build sheet was found but rats had gotten to it, I was told it was an original LS6 car and everything I have found makes me believe the same but as with these the VIN does not verify it. But if someone wants to do the research I am sure you will verify it to be true as everything the original owner told me was correct, and he purchased the car new. Aftermarket Auto-Meter gauges were installed and they all work, recall tach, etc. Aftermarket radio was installed and works well so you can listen to the tunes while blowing past that new Z06. I had a new headliner installed a few years back and it is starting to slightly sag on the back right, it could probably be pulled tighter just never got around to having it done. All of the brakes were redone and it still has the factory front Disc brakes with new rotors, new master cylinder, all new lines were installed back in the early 2000’s and car still stops on a dime. Torque Thrust II 16 inch rims were installed with like new tires. Overall this is one fine example of a 1970 Chevelle SS LS6 that will bring you many years of enjoyment. It has not been tubbed or any sheet metal altered so if you want to remove the blower and replace the hood it would be easy to turn it back into an original LS6 car. But to be honest it gets more attention how it is set up than any other car I have owned. It is super dependable, I just bump the key and it fires right up, it has very good street manners and the compression and camshaft were set up to run on 93 Octane. Car is sold As-Is with clear Florida title in my name. Any questions contact Frank 863-381-4954. Car is as advertised, local inspections welcome and encouraged but please do so before the auction ends. Good luck bidding and do not miss out on this one-of-a-kind Chevelle SS LS6.
