Description of 1971 Chevrolet Caprice

You are bidding on a 90% completely original, numbers matching 1971 Chevy Caprice. This Chevy has just 53,500 original miles since being purchased new in February, 1971. We are the third owners of this car, which has always been garaged since new. This car runs and drives like brand new. The interior looks and feels like brand new. All lights and accessories work, including the original factory AM radio, even the clock works! The dashboard is perfect with no cracks. The paint job has been touched up over the years in its original factory cottonwood green. The 400 ci engine runs perfectly and starts right up after sitting for weeks. The transmission shifts smoothly. This car would make a reliable daily driver, but we only drive it to shows. A true example of early 1970's American automotive history that is very hard to come by.
We have owned this car since October, 2009 and the car has not seen rain or snow since then. The previous owner kept the car in storage for ten years before he sold it to us, so this car has not been driven regularly since the late 1980's. It's a real time capsule!
Although this car is in very good condition, it is not perfect. The hood-release cable is broken, and the hood needs to opened from outside the car until this is fixed. There are some dings/pitting on the rocker panel on the driver's side of the car. Most of the hoses are original and should be replaced. The radiator is original and should also be replaced. The frame and the floor boards are solid, but there was minimal corrosion around the rear quarter panels which was professionally repaired many years ago.This Chevy is not a trailer queen and has been priced accordingly. The realistic buyer will understand that this isa 45 year old car with a few imperfections.It isnot a $40,000 show car. Having said that, if you want an excellent runner that looks great, is fun to drive and won't leave you stranded, this is the car for you.
