Description of 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210

If you've ever wanted to own your own two lane blacktop street machine... look no further!

Up for auction today, straight out of a 32 year indoor storage, is a 1955 Chevy 210 2 Dr. sedan Gasser project. This is an incredible find, and I will describe the car in full detail. First the history lesson. Anyone from the New York/New Jersey area who was into street racing back in the 70's-80's should remember this car screaming down Fountain Ave,orSouth Conduit. If you're not familiar with it, just Google Fountain Ave. drag racing!

Still in full street trim, this car last saw the street back in 1984. It will need a full restoration to bring it back to it's glory days, or just do the rat rod thing.

The body on the car is in very presentable condition. Doors, trunk lid,are trunk floor are extremely solid. The floor pans are solid, but they have been patched with OE panels. The job is good enough to leave as is. A few of the braces have some rust. Outer rockers have been replaced. Fenders are very nice, hood needs work. The hood braces have been removed, I imagine to pin it, but it was never pinned. The dash is complete, headliner is new and never fully installed. Carpet is also new. A little dusty from sitting, but still nice. The quarters have had the wheel openings enlarged, some people like this, I don't !! I would say it needs lower quarters, if you like that look just clean them up. There are several areas where someone attempted to do some "filler" work. The filler is not over rot. The trunk pan near the shock towers, is cracked and will need to be welded. All glass is good with the exception of both door glasses, which have cracks.

Now the drivetrain:

1967 Chevelle Big Block 396/325HP engine .... Code T0301EK 7B16929

Turbo 400 trans 10" convertor

Chrysler 8-3/4 Posi rear.... 390 ratio 489 case with ladder bars

Hooker large tube street headers

When I got the car, I was told the engine and trans were rebuilt, and placed back in the chassis where they sat for 30 odd years. I have no way to confirm this, except the lists of parts, and empty packages left in the car. As you can see the trans is clean and painted. The car came to me with the rockers, valve covers, and intake removed. I installed and adjusted the rockers, and intake, droppedin astock distributer and a set of wires, threw some gas down the carb, and the engine fired right up!! I only ran it for a few seconds, I don't know if the cam has ever been broken in. A dial indicator on the rockers, suggests a large lift hydraulic cam, about .550. Top of engine looked spotless. This is all I have to go on, to assume condition.

What is Missing:

Driveshaft, front shocks, front bumper, door sill panels, the right front wheel and tire does not match the other three, trans crossmember, the side brackets are there, but the member itself was nowhere to be found, door panels, and maybe some other small odds and ends. Battery not included, some assembly required!!!

Folks, for the most part this is a nearly complete car, that with some TLC, can be put back on the road in a couple of weekends, or do a full blown restoration, Your call. Email with any questions, or other pictures. After rambling on for this long I may have forgotten something. This is an excellent opportunity to own a cool 55 for a LOW RESERVE price. Please do not ask what the reserve is, it is more than fair fora car in this condition.

$500 deposit due at auctions end, balance in money order, cashiers check, or cash. Car will NOT be released until ALL funds clear. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! All paper work in order, ready for transfer.
