Description of 1968 Chevrolet Impala |
From my private collection, I am selling my 1968 Chevrolet Impala SS 427. I have owned this car for 11 years (since 2005). Original mileage is 23,411. And despite the low mileage, this car underwent a total frame-off restoration rebuild. All the mechanicals including the motor, transmission, rear end, exhaust & brakes were gone through and upgraded or carefully rebuilt. Since then, I have put only 900 miles on the car. This is a 48 year old car that is a modern classic, meaning old enough to appreciate and be unique yet modern enough to drive as a dependable daily driver. Fully loaded for 1968, this beauty sports the 385 horsepower high performance 427 SS engine with the 3-speed Turbo 400 automatic transmission on the floor, all factory equipped. Options include allgage instrumentationin the dash (not lights), AM/FMstereo, power steering, power brakes, tinted glass, bucket seats, console, air conditioning, front and rear bumper guards, front corner lights, and rear sway bar among other perks. Has the factor Rally wheels with Redlines that are like brand new with less than 900 miles on them. Just a little known fact: 1968 was the first year for concealed windshield wipers which added to the beauty of the car. The '68 Super Sport has three 'gills' on the front fenders like the Corvette. The hood itself was unique for the '68 Super Sport as it boasts a special layered 'domed' or 'pancake' hood. Pretty impressive and sporty from the view of sitting in the driver's or passenger front seat. Car is in near excellent condition. Always stored inside. Never left out in the weather. Chrome, interior, glass - all are in great shape. No rust. Never in an accident. Maintained very well. To my knowledge, everything thing works on the car. The original color was a butternut yellow but when the body was off the frame, I had it painted a beautiful teal color called Tahoe Turquoise. Color looks very natural on the car and I am constantly getting compliments on it. Very rare car these days. Truly a pleasure to drive. Very solid and effortlessly fast. This car could be a trailer queen if all you wanted to do is show her off. But, she is modern enough to be an investment you could enjoy as it increases in value. I would also like to mention that this particular '68 Impala Super Sport is one of only 1700 produced that year so that makes it even more rare. As you can tell, I love Chevrolets. I am an Impala enthusiasts, especially when it comes to the Super Sport models. I am selling four of my Impalas to thin down my collection because I will be moving out of state in a few months. The vehicle is located not far from Houston, Texas. I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have. My name is Craig and you may contact me at 979/270-0708.. I appreciate you interest. |
