Description of 1977 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 |
1977 Camaro Z28 with 4 Speed manual transmission, Power Steering & Power Brakes (front disc). – The engine is a non-matching 350ci LM1 taken out of a 1975 Camaro with a 4 speed transmission which is the identical engine the car originally came with. I have the original numbers matching 350ci LM1 block that also goes with the sale. The original engine had a bad bearing so it was removed for a rebuild by the previous owner and never completed. The original matching components (i.e. Distributor, intake manifold, 4 barrel Rochester carburetor, exhausts manifolds, Air Cleaner etc.) are all bolted on the replacement engine. The 4 speed Borg Warner Super T-10 is original numbers matching as is the 8.5” 10 bolt posi-traction rear axle with 3.73 gears. The doors close well and the windows roll up and down smoothly. The car also has the original AM/FM radio that works perfectly and the original jack is in the trunk. The original owner’s manual is also in the glove compartment. All glass is in great condition and the headliner and carpet are perfect. The car still maintains all its black original Z28 style 5 spoke wheels with all trim rings and Z28 center caps. The original side molding is still on the car. It still has the original exhaust with the original catalytic converter along with the dual resonators/dual exhaust. The previous owner had stored the car in a garage since 1999 under a cover but it looks like there must have been moisture between the cover and the paint. I purchased this car as a father son project but my son lost interest. The car is registered and insured and I have driven this car regularly to local shows. It is an unmolested 1977 Camaro Z28 that has never been repainted. The interior seems to be original and in great condition. The body has some surface rust and the original decals are peeling off and rusted around the edges. Both rear lower quarter panels look to have been repaired. The driver’s side looks to be professionally installed lower quarter and inner trunk drop off replacement. The passenger side inner trunk drop off was replaced and some patches were welded in place on the outside. The front fenders and doors seem to be in good shape but the front part of the drivers side rear quarter needs some attention due to rust. The floor pans and trunk pan are solid. There is also a little rust by the driver’s side glass dash panel. All electrical components and gauges work, including the clock, except for the gas gauge which works intermittently (I believe it’s a bad ground). The odometer shows 74k miles. I was told by the previous owner that the miles are actual and that the original engine was removed at around 60k miles due to a bad bearing. Unfortunately there is no way to verify this other than inspecting the car for wear and tear. The car seems to be mostly all original. I have the transferrable title in my name. This is a project car that can be driven as it is being restored. I have purchased many new parts as I was going to do a frame off restoration. All the new parts listed below are either already installed or go with the sale. I suggest that prospective bidders come see the car in person and take it for a test drive.
