Description of 1951 Chevrolet Other |
This is a rescued BARN FIND!!!! This car is a real deal lead sled built in 1958. It is featured in George Barris's book Kustoms of the 50's. Restoration is not show standard. It is a driver quality car. Details are as follows. Body media blasted. Rust repaired with new metal welded in. New galvan steel floorpan front to rear. Disc brake conversion. All new lines and hoses. New fuel system including brand new gas tank. New alternator. battery. wiring harness. headlights. PERTRONIX ignition conversion. Aluminum 3 row radiator. electric fan. The engine and trans are from a 1965 buick Riviera. Trans is good original sp 400 three speed. th400 guts fit it if you ever need a rebuild. Engine is as follows 401 Nailhead 445 ft lb torque. New: valve job. power honed. rings. bearings. oil pump fuel pump. timing chain. gaskets. rebuilt carter carb. Monster torque. I was pleasantly shocked when it drove it the first time. Has been converted to disc brakes with all new parts. rotors. seals. bearings. calipers. power master cyl with prop valve. lines front to baqck and hoses. Rear brakes are all rebuilt with new wheel cyls and shoes. drums turned. Car still has stock style steering setup with custom dropped spindles from the 50's. You are not going to win at lemans with this one! The rims I chose are 15inch with new tires. they look good but have some clearance issues. front and rear. Maybe air shocks or bags would help the rear. or get wheels with a bit better offset. or just drive it and make wide turns! This a historic example of the old masters customizing job. Chop is amazing and they made sure to install a 1 piece windshield while they were at it. After it was blasted and i started the bodywork I realized just how much lead these cars have. incredible craftsmanship and skill. George Barris thought enough of this car to feature it in his book. You will be the 4th owner/caretaker. Watch videos below. https://www. youtube. com/watch?v=u0pkkUQ6kyQ https://www. youtube. com/watch?v=Owvms9qAAmU |
