I imported this Canadian built Pontiac Acadian Canso from northern British Columbia, Canada in May, 2016. I have the GM Historical Services documents indicating this is one of 302 V-8 hardtop models built in 1966. The last registration in Canada is dated 2000 so the car has been off the road for 16 years. During that time the top was removed and it was converted into a convertible using thecomponentsfrom a 62-63 Convertible Acadian/Nova. The top goes up and down and latches to the top of the windshield using the original convertible parts. The doors open and close without a problem. The floors, firewall and trunk areas show no rust and all original suspension components work as they should. The original engine was a 283 but that has been replaced with a 300hp 327 V-8 with 4 bolt mains, all original except an aluminum intake and holley 4777-2 750 cfm dual feed carb. The 4 spd transmission is a Saginaw unit. The car has a set of 66 Acadian/Nova black bucket SS seats good enough to rebuild and recover. The rear side arm rest covers from a convertible are included, used to cover the tophydrauliccylinders. The car will need a rear seat. All of the front trim on the car is from a 66 Nova. This car can be built as a Nova SS or the grille can be replaced with an Acadian unit and build the car as an Acadian Canso. Rear script and deck lid trim panels are included from a 66 Acadian Canso. Steering wheel horn button is an Acadian Maple leaf emblem. The car is drivable as is but I do notrecommend that. The car will need frame connectors at a minimum in order to brace the body prior to driving it on the road. Without the top, the body will flex and twist, so it is necessary to brace it up while it is still straight.
