1959 Chevy Apache short bed step side. Wheels and tires are newer Coker Firestone wide whites on powder coated OEM 49-54 Chevy car steelies. Frame is clipped with 1978 Camaro front suspension, Rebuilt GM power steering box, some newer suspension pieces, shocks, center link, tierods, I have all new ball joints included in sale but did not get to install them. Steering column is a 1959 Chevy Parkwood station wagon, with original wheel. Blinkers work, no horn. Rear suspension is the stock 1959 apache leaf springs with a few leaves removed and the axle flipped to the topside to lower. Rides good but is soft in the rear. So it can't carry a ton of weight and will not "hole shot" very well, has wheel hop. Keeps me from breaking something tho! Previous owner was planing to bag it, Frame has a large step notch. Rear axle is from a 1980 Trans Am and has a 3:23 posi. Engine is a low mile (48,000) 1987 Chevy 350 4-bolt. We removed it from a clean California C-10 truck that was getting an LS swap. Does not smoke or miss a beat. I put a healthy cam (303/313 duration .487/.508 lift) and matched valve springs in it along with new oil pump and gaskets. Holds 60psi oil pressure at idle. Still on a standard bore with stock pistons. Runs great. Maintains 190 degrees, with a 180 stat. Radiator is a brand new Aluminum 4-row. New Edlebrock intake and 3150 carb. Exhaust is dual flowmasters that dump just ahead of rear axle. They are kinda loud. Transmission is a 1992 5-speed from a 1/2 ton Silverado (NV-3500) new stock replacement clutch with hydraulic slave. Pedal assembly is a Wilwood unit that has all the proper bore sizes for easy braking and clutch. Mustang fuel tank under bed floor. Dropped and set back seat (fits under window were gas tank was) from a Ford van. Position makes it sit comfortable and low inside. Pedals and steering were all positioned with the low seat. Its comfy, but not adjustable. New Painless fuse panel, with relays. Small 12v heater is hooked up and works great. Wipers have been converted to 12volt, they have 2 speeds. Dash is smoothed and painted with the factory gold. New glovebox liner. Temp, oil and amp gauges are all genuine vintage Stewart Warners. Only temp and Oil psi are working. I made the stainless "V" under the gauges to mimic the original cluster. NO gas gauge. I have a 1.5 gallon can that sits in the passenger foot well for emergencies. No broken glass, New vent glass, Windshield does have slight de-lamination along bottom edge, and some rust above windshield. Truck is a HOT ROD. It idles rough with the cam, it rattles and follows cracks in the road, BUT its is a tested reliable driver as is. Its been together and registered like this for over 3yrs. I’ve driven it on several road trips without trouble. From Ohio to New Jersey for the Race of Gentlemen was about 1200 miles. Countless weekend 2-4hr trips. It is rattly and has no window felts or weather stripping and the bed could use some bolts etc. I have MANY new parts that can be included with the sale, just never got a chance to put them on. I have the drivers red door that matches the pass door, it is much nicer than the door on the truck. I also have all the window felts and weather striping new from Brothers Chevrolet. I have the garnish moldings, the door panels and boxes of misc. other pieces. If you have any questions email me and I can answer pretty much everything. I just don't have time to finish it off, but I do still drive it nearly every day. Its a fun reliable truck.
