Description of 1956 Chevrolet Other Pickups 100 Series |
This is a 1956 GMC Deluxe Cab short bed big window pickup that underwent a frame off rebuild in 2014 and has had the front sheet metal converted to the Chevrolet style of the same year. The hood, dash, and tailgate still wear GMC branding. The drivetrain has been converted to a 2005 GMC 5.3 liter v8 (LM7 295hp and 335 lb-ft torque) and 4l60e automatic transmission, which is column shifted. The front frame clip has been grafted in from a 1976 Camaro that gives this truck disc brakes, coil sprung IFS, and power steering. Adjustable coilovers up front are from QA1. The rear end is an open GM 10-bolt with highway gears and is sprung-under with 56 GMC leaves. The frame is step notched to tuck the rear up nice and low.During the rebuild in 2014, all suspension, brakes, steering components, etc. were replaced or rebuilt. The truck is set up to be an easy, reliable cruiser. It starts up instantaneously in warm and cold weather, drives and brakes flawlessly, and rides very smoothly. It does have it's share of rattles and squeaks though, along with quite a few dings, dents, and scrapes of which I tried to provide clear photos. The paint is an amateur job but looks great from 20 feet. The fuel system is from Tanks, inc. and uses their EFI mustang tank along with a Walbro GSS340 in-tank pump. The fuel gauge is currently reading inaccurately - it reads 1/2 a tank when tank is full, and reads empty when the tank has about a quarter to an eighth of fuel remaining. Dual exhaust runs down the framerails through Thrush mufflers and tucked away tips. The greatest feature of this truck is the sheet metal - it is remarkably rust free. The floors, cab corners, everything - all completely free of corrosion of any kind. Another nice feature is a fairly complete original style interior with a freshly upholstered factory bench and new Cal Custom Heritage gauges in the factory dash. There are a lot more details I can get into, but I would invite you ask any questions you have through the 'ask seller' feature and I'll reply promptly. I wasn't sure whether to list the truck as a Chevy or GMC given the cosmetics. I apologize if you found this looking specifically for an original Chevy truck. I am happy to help arrange shipping!
