Description of 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 |
This is my personal vehicle. I own a rod and custom shop that has been building award winning cars for over 30 years. I wanted to build a 55 with a 60s vibe but with all the cool stuff that old guys like myself deserve. I started with a original red and white car that I located in California. The first step was to completely disassemble the body and frame and sand blast then to bare metal. The frame recieved custom built motor mounts and transmission mounts. a rear shock crossmember. the rear springs are moved inside the frame (to allow more tire clearance) after the mods where made the frame was painted satin black. the front spindles are 2" drop with disc brake conversions. The rear is a rebuilt Ford 9" with 370 gears. the trans is a rebuilt 700R. the power steering is a GM 605 box. controlled through a chrome tilt column. The engine is a 1970 chevy 350 4 bolt main with a SCAT crank. 8. 5 to 1 compression pistons. elderbrock manifold and 650 electric choke carburator . Wiend water pump and timing chain cover. ARP bolts. The engine has been run on a dyno to proof its true horse power. It came in at 390 . The body was epoxied after sand blast and then the inside was coated with bedliner as a sound deadner. then insulated on top of that prior to the custom wiring and upholestry. The body recieved some mild custom touches that you might have seen on a 60s show car. they include shaving the hood of all trim. and bringing the hood peak forward. smoothing out the seams on the front fenders to the splash pans. removing all trunk trim. filling the fuel door. adding a Rocky Hinge power unit to the left tail light. adding a power unit to the trunk lock. The car is painted in Glasurit Matador red and wimbeldon white. color sanded and buffed to a show quality shine. Which by the way the cars has won awards at the few shows that it has attended. There is all new rubber seals. all new tinted glass. except the rear glass that is also tinted. All the bright work is either new replated or polished. The bumpers are smoothy type with no bolts showing. The interior is done in a soft leatherette and cloth material that looks and feels real good. If you where to bring me your 55 chev hardtop to build like this car with the specialty power windows. Dakota digital remote . the up grade delay wipers. and all the tricks this car has. I could not build it for what I am asking for this car. I am trying to buy some property so the car needs to go. I have recipts and pictures of the build to go with the car. I can be reached at 541 951 7846 if you have any questions. In looking at this description I see that there is alot more to the car than I can put in print |
