Description of 1949 Chevrolet Other Pickups |
1949 Chevy Chevrolet 3800-3100 Pickup Truck Here is a good ol '49 Chevy that is going to sell to the highest bidder. Like all of my oldtrucks, this came from a farm here in Kansas. This is a smaller truck than I usually find. It is the 3800 1 ton model. First of all, I have a title to go with this truck, but as Chevrolet did back in the 1950's, this truck was titled with engine number. The old 216 was pulled out and tossed, who knows how long ago, and now has a 235 instead. I have found out that in certain states, this presents a real challenge to get a vehicle titled. Luckily, in Kansas, its no big deal. I have applied for the title, matching the vin tag on the door, and will have it in approximately 30 days. I will give you a bill of sale upon purchase, and guarantee you a clean clear Kansas title in my name in 30 days. As for the truck itself, it is mostly rust free. There is a little in right rear cab corner, and a couple other small spots shown in pictures, but no major rust through issues. It does have its share of farm character, the dings and dents that come with spending 60+ years working on a farm. These are visible in the pictures as well. Although the wood on the bed is rotted, the mechanism works great. Its an electric over hydraulic dump bed, just push the button and up it goes - handier than a pocket on a t-shirt! The cable to pull to let the bed down is a little stiff from age, but should free up. The truck does run, and carries good oil pressures, but it does run rough and definitely needs a tune-up. Lights and gauges mostly work, the truck has been converted to 12 volt, so it turns over and starts easier, and as I said, it has been converted to the much better, full oil pressure, 235 instead of the 216. It actually has so much oil pressure, that the line going to the pressure gauge drips a little! That's where the spot of oil on the floor came from. Tires are a little weathered, but not bad, and have nearly new tread. Over all, a really great project truck if you have a little mechanical ability. Please keep in mind that this truck has mostly sat for many years, and all components will need checked over. Brakes try to work after a few pumps, but will need properly bled and inspected. This truck is 67 years old, as are most of the parts on it, so please ask any questions prior to bidding. You can call or text Cort at 620-786-5172 for a faster response. I do have 100% positive feedback so you can bid with confidence, but for both of our sakes, make sure you know what you are bidding on. I am flexible on storage time, as long as it doesn't stretch out for months, and as long as its paid for in a timely manner. This vehicle will need a battery, but I have one to use for loading purpose, or I will put in a new one at my cost (approx. 75.00) Thank you and good luck. |
