Description of 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle |
This is a 1970 model Chevelle Malibu SS car and has been completely restored since 2014. The A51 option shows on the cowl tag that the car has red interior with bucket seats, console and 4 speed. I believe only 300 of the USA built Chevelles and convertible cars had the red interior option according to the GM archives. The 454 block has been built up with aluminum heads and stroked to a 496 with approximately 613 hp. The original M22 has been completely rebuilt in 2014 and a 2:56 first gear replaced the 2:20 close ratio that is original for the car and matching the correct Vin number. I still have the original Muncie shifter for the car (included with the sale) but was replaced with a Hurst shifter for better shifting. I put a Centerforce clutch and throwout bearing in it with all new linkage parts. It has the original 3:31 posi rearend with CRV stamped on it in very nice condition. I put a 950 Quick Fuel Carb on the engine with a high rise intake and still have the original 780cfm Carb with air cleaner and low rise intake completely restored to new condition which will be included with the sale of the car. I put Flowmaster scavenger headers on it mated to a magnaflow x crossover pipe 3" exhaust on the car with remote control cutouts and chrome resonators on the rear attached to the chrome exhaust tips. The suspension is newly rebuilt and the underside of the car is completely undercoated like brand new. The fuel tank and hoses have all been replaced. I also upgraded the wheels with Year One 17" aluminum wheels that copy the look of the original wheels. The original car color is Cranberry Red with black stripes and was repainted in 2010. I replaced the power booster to a 9" diameter one with a new master cylinder plus a new 5 core radiator. The restoration is very nicely done and is currently registered and insured. I will give the original manual steering sector to the buyer since it is original to the car as I replaced it with a small Vega style power steering sector from Classics Industries. This car did not come with A/C. nor did I put any on it. This car is the original Malibu Super Sport and the rear quarter panels are lazer straight and are still the original never dented panels. There are not even a hundred miles on the car since the restoration. I have a lot of receipts from the restoration. It is registered and insured and ready to drive and hear a real super nice rumpety rump sound come out of it. It sounds very nasty and has the power to back it up yet very streetable to drive in normal traffic. |
