Looking for a cool piece of Americana that'll turn heads anywhere it goes? If you're in the market for some vintage metal that's stylish, powerful and has lots of history, who says you have to buy a stuffy, high maintenance trailer queen? Just pick up the phone, call your friends at RK Motors Charlotte and we'll hook you up with a great car like this awesome Chevy Impala! Wrapping a correct 327/3-speed drivetrain in striking maroon and gold aesthetics, this fully documented weekender draws big crowds and big compliments. And if you're one of the many enthusiasts looking for a fun classic that's unrelentingly cool, it's your ticket to car guy nirvana! BODYWORK/TRIM The beneficiary of a professional, body-on restoration, this stripped-bare fastback has been carefully recoated in correct Madeira Maroon 2-stage that successfully walks the line between classy Chevy cruisers and legendary Chevy muscle cars. At the front of its well-maintained panels, a familiar stainless grille, chrome-plated by the folks at Nashville, Tennessee's Advanced Plating, hangs a small "Impala SS" badge between bright headlights, crisp parking lamps and a mirrored bumper that's finished with correct chrome guards. Behind that grille, a factory hood flows to factory-tint glass, which rides under stainless wipers, polished drip rails and bright stainless frames. At the sides of that hood, a ridged profile, founded in thin wheel liners and black-trimmed rocker guards, centers traditional door handles and a requisite bowtie mirror behind familiar cross-flag emblems and more "Impala SS" badging. And at the back of that profile, fresh taillights and a modernist Chevrolet crest split the difference between a correct antenna, polished trunk trim, a fourth "Impala SS" badge and a second mirrored bumper that's finished with correct chrome guards. ENGINE Powering this real-deal Super Sport is a correct, 327 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 that was professionally rebuilt by Nichols Engineering of Gastonia, North Carolina. At the top of that hot mill, a powdercoated air cleaner funnels oxygen in to a familiar Quadrajet 4-barrel, which feeds through fresh stainless fuel lines. That carb fills a cast iron intake that's framed by factory Chevy heads and Chevrolet-stamped valve covers. Those heads force spent gases in to correct, cast iron exhaust manifolds which, thanks to 2.5-inch, true-dual pipes, create a deep and sinister roar. That roar is the product of sparks sequenced from a traditional points distributor to fresh 7mm Standard Silicon Wires. Those sparks are generated by pliable V-belts, which spin a rebuilt alternator and factory Frigidaire AC compressor between powdercoated pulleys and powdercoated brackets. In front of those ancillaries, a factory Harrison radiator fronts pliable GM hoses and a shrouded fan. And this B-Body's entire engine compartment, from its Chevy Orange paint and convincing reproduction battery to its Satin Black fenders and factory-spec brake booster, is decaled, detailed, and ready to show and go. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION When the small block jumps to life, it spins torque through a correct, "CD" branded Turbo-Hydramatic 400 3-speed, which twists power to a correct, "GA" branded 12-bolt. That tough pumpkin pushes a 4-link rear-half, which features modern coil-over-shocks. Opposite those shocks, a factory front-clip frames correct power steering. At the corners, correct, power-assisted drums provide solid, consistent stops. Under the car's Satin Black floors, aluminized exhaust pipes shuttle spent gases through brash turbo mufflers and polished stainless tips. And everything rolls on stainless-trimmed Chevrolet Rallies, which lap in 225/70R14 BF Goodrich Radial T/As in front of 225/70R15 BF Goodrich Radial T/As. INTERIOR Decked in correct Gold vinyl, this Impala's delightfully '60s interior is so tailored that it almost looks custom. Seating is provided by SS-spec buckets, which front a factory-spec bench. At the base of those thrones, bowtie-branded floor mats protect like-new carpet, which frames stainless-trimmed foot pedals. At the center of that carpet, an SS-spec console anchors a polished shifter behind a vintage Audiovox head unit. Opposite that console, fade-free side panels feature correct stainless hardware. At the front of those panels, a padded dash founds factory telemetry and correct 4-season air conditioning over a correct Delco pushbutton radio. In front of the driver, a color-keyed steering wheel laps a familiar Super Sport centerpiece. And behind the passengers, a giant trunk hides a correct jack and full-size spare tire.
