Description of 1932 Chevrolet Other Pickups 1/2 ton Panel Delivery Truck |
Here's a very rare Chevy Panel Delivery project. Please look at the photos and ask any questions you may have. Comes with the original body ID Plate, which reads: "Chevrolet Commercial Body Division, Indianapolis, Indiana. Body type 460301, Serial No. 69338. Includes 4 original wire wheels, no tires. Survivor basket case, I found it in the shop of an elderly collector who passed on, none of his heirs knew anything about this van, but he had a beautiful, fully restored 32 Chevy 4 door sedan, which they sold to someone else, and I ended up with the basket case van. He had reworked the rear cargo floor wood bed, but I see that there are no bolt holes for the cast iron corner body braces, so he never really started to put it back together. On the passenger side, the inner rear body panels are very intact and in good condition, but on the drivers side rear interior, the flat metal interior panel is missing. Straight forward to make a new one since the passenger side is perfectly intact. The U bolts that hold the front axle in place are missing, I have some temporary bolts there, no front brake drums. The upper windshield frame is missing, but in the header is there, there are windshield wiper mechanisms built into the header. There is no window glass. There is only one rear fender, the passenger side. Reproduction rear fenders are available, also available in a few inches wider than stock, if you were wanting larger tires on the rear if this was to be a street rod. The passenger side rear corner section is intact and assembled, and the rear door hangs nicely from it, but the drivers side rear corner upright is disassembled and in parts, the hinges are all there. There is a front bench seat bottom, and the seat springs, no upholstery. Dashboard is intact, but no instruments or switches. I have the original outer door handles. Have two nice headlights, chrome bodies, with lenses, but the headlight support bar is missing. The metal roof perimeter sections are all there, the one over the windshield, two on each side, and the one over the rear doors. The roof was spanned with wood joists, and the center part covered with fabric. I have many of the roof wood members, in Ok original condition, see photos of stacked wood parts on a work bench! The rear end is an original type, with a tube driveshaft but the trans is missing. Engine missing. Radiator shell is there, with an original grill, but no radiator. Fenders, hood and running boards are off another donor vehicle and are not as nice as the rest of the van body. Comes with a pair of 1932 California original license plates, which are DMV clear. Sold with bill of sale. No title, this has been stored for over 40 years, a true barn find! I include a couple of period black and white photos of similar vans - the last two photos. You are welcome to come see it, I am in Buellton, CA - just 3 miles off the 101 freeway between Santa Barbara and Santa Maria. Bruce 805-550-2151 |
