VIN#: 118376Wxxxxxx 1 = Chevrolet 18 = Chevy II Nova SS V-8 37 = 2 door coupe 6 = 1966 W = Willow Run, MI plant BODY TAG: 09D = Build date 4th week of September 66 = 1966 11837 = Chevrolet Chevy II Nova SS V-8 2 door coupe 737 = Blue Buckets F-F = Marina Blue / Marina Blue W = A02 tinted windshield / 2M = M35 Powerglide transmission For sale is “Daddy’s Toy II”…..This car was featured on the cover of Nova Times back in 1989, and from then until now has been very well taken care of, and has stayed pretty much unchanged. The car has been driven and maintained along the way, so it is a good drivable car. This Nova is very factory, but the 327 and transmission are not original to the car. A copy of the magazine with the history of the car is included in this sale. I bought the car from a friend who although he loved the car didn’t want to have so much money invested in a car that he only drove every now and then at best. The car is not perfect by any means, but shows VERY WELL. There are paint chips and nicks here and there that I have shown in the pictures, but they are what you would expect from a car that was painted almost 30 years ago and then driven from time to time. The underside / trunk / rockers / etc / etc are all very solid (see pic’s). From what I understand on the history of the car, it has all of its factory body panels except the front fenders have been changed out with proper GM parts (this was back in the 80’s before it was painted). The car was re-painted twice, once during the restoration, and then again after it was keyed down both sides. The car is powered by a 327 that was rebuilt in the 1980’s and since has had about 30K miles put on it (assuming the odometer is somewhat correct). The sheet from the engine builder states it as 336 cu in (327 + .060) and approximately 350HP, so I am assuming they were building their own version of an L79 for the car. The transmission is a TH350 that was re-worked with a shift kit, and the rear end is a 10-bolt with 3.08 gears, so the car is fine out on the highway. The car runs and drives very well, and has plenty of power. The engine has been updated with an Edelbrock carburetor and an aluminum intake, aluminum radiator, but otherwise looks fairly factory. The car has factory power steering and manual brakes. The maintenance is all up to date on the car, and it is ready to drive and enjoy right now. Everything works (dome light / cigarette lighter / gauges / speedo / dash lights / headlights (high & low beam) / tail lights / brake lights / turn signals / door locks (with spare keys) / windshield wipers (both speeds) / heater & defroster) EXCEPT the A.M. radio…..I’m sure it could be made to work, but I don’t listen to A.M. anyway so I wasn’t too worried about it. I have just recently changed the belts / hoses / fuel lines / heater core /etc. so that I could continue to drive and enjoy the car this Fall. From all of the years of limited use it does leak some oil. I’m assuming it’s a rear main seal and/or pan gasket, but it’s not that bad so I haven’t gone to the trouble to fix it yet. These cars just seem to keep going up in value, and this particular one is a pretty darn nice car, so it’s a safe investment that you can have some fun with while it makes you money. I insure it with Hagerty to cover my investment, but otherwise I drive the car on nice days!!! The original warranty booklet (the Protecto-Plate is missing) Various receipts from over the years Pictures of the car during and right after restoration A list of previous owners (Don’t know for sure if it’s every single owner) WHAT DOES THE CAR NEED (In my opinion): Exhaust is made up of little tiny pipes with very quiet mufflers…..Needs some Flowmasters and bigger pipes!! RPM’s drop at least a couple of hundred when you drop it in gear, so I’d say a mild performance torque convertor might be a nice addition….Although it is very drivable as-is Factory style air cleaner and factory 327 decals would be a nice touch (they reproduce the plain Jane and L79 types these days) Inside of trunk could use a re-paint….It’s an easy and cheap job, but I didn’t want to cover anything up ALL IN ALL NOT PERFECT, BUT A REALLY REALLY NICE AND SOLID OLD NOVA……RUNS AND DRIVES WELL AND CAN BE DRIVEN AND ENJOYED RIGHT AWAY. SURE TO GO UP IN VALUE OVER TIME, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE IT IS AN ORIGINAL SS CAR
