Now that I'm almost 50 and have thinned my collection considerably over the last couple of years, most of what's in my garage is here to stay and maybe my wife will choose which one to bury me in. They are either cars I've had most of my life or vehicles I've always wanted to own so I sought them out like a hunter searching for prey. Occasionally, a vintage car or truck finds me and in a weak moment I add them to the herd. This is the case with my Chevelle. A close friend called and told me about the car and the sad story that came with it. The wife of the owner that had the car built needed to sell it. Unfortunately, a family crisis forced the sale. I met with her the next day and began building a bridge that ultimately led to the purchase of this car. I never enjoy purchasing a vehicle that's being sold out of desperation, especially when the car has been in the family since day-one. Yes, the aunt of the previous owner bought the car new. Stories like that take all the fun out of it. Nevertheless, a mutually beneficial deal was made and I took the car home. Once the car was in my garage I started the process of freshening and tightening up the restoration that had been done about 8 years before. The previous owner had several lucrative businesses and spent thousands of dollars on this car. I don't agree will all of his choices but the money was flowing and it was his dream to transform the Chevelle into a show-stopper that turned everyone's head. From what I can gather, he had all work done by local shops and professionals rather than doing any of the work himself. Very little sweat-equity. That luxury cost him dearly. The family swears more than 6 figures were invested in the restoration but without full documentation I'm uncomfortable standing by that claim. When you tell people that money is no object and that you have a "blank check" even the most honorable body men, painters, engine builders and interior guys will capitalize on the situation. And, boy did they! He received quality work and skilled craftsmanship but he over-paid for it all. What the heck, he had lots of cash to throw around. Sometimes good things come to an end. When the recession hit in 2008-2009 his circumstances changed drastically. Businesses folded and the fountain of money dried up. Even though the Chevelle was 90% completed by that time it primarily just sat in the garage needing final touches and bugs worked out. Again, although the car is a stunning rolling piece of art, I disagree with some of his choices but this is the canvas I had to work with. Don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous car with substantial investment that's easy to see, I'm just more of a purest at heart. That being said, even a collector like me that prefers originality and correctness has to admit that this is a neat car deserving appreciation. My bragging rights are limited. With the help of a close friend that possesses more skill than myself we made some moderate changes and improvements. The 18 & 20 inch wheels are brand new and a comprehensive engine compartment detailing/correcting was performed. Some excess wiring was cleaned up and we got just about everything to work properly. Previous owner was more concerned with a $4000 sound system than having functioning windshield wipers. The tunes are wonderful but I would have prioritized differently. With very few exceptions, I've been able to get the car dialed in extremely well. I've gone as far as I want to. It is a beautiful and nicely done car. Even though I appreciate the beauty and quality of this Chevelle, it does not have a piece of me. My motivation to cross off the last items on the grocery list of minor complaints is all but gone. The next owner can enjoy taking credit for final touches. The first few photos you'll see are of the exterior, interior, engine bay, etc... All of those areas are exceptional. I will provide details pertaining to condition and specifics under those pictures.

All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations pertaining to a 49 year old vehicle and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my Chevelle in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the car clearly and accurately from as many angles and lighting conditions as I could capture. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. BIDDING GUIDELINES

I set a conservative reserve price on my Chevelle. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I personally took every picture you're about to see. No photo has been altered, photo-shopped or enhanced in any way. This is my car and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time, DAVE

-EXTERIOR-

Body and paint are high quality. Fit and finish are very nice with even panel gaps and fitment. The SS hood was added. All other body panels are day-one original. The paint holds a high shine and gloss. Smooth as a babies bottom. Looking down the sides of the car is impressive. No waviness or washboard effect. My explorations have discovered no abuses of bondo or other body fillers. The paint really is beautiful and is obviously applied over an excellent body. Under close scrutiny minor blemishes can be found but you have to look hard to find any. The car shows and presents extremely well. Exterior chrome and trim are a combination of new and original. Bumpers and moldings are very nice. Tail light bezels show some pitting. All glass is in good shape. Gorgeous undersides and trunk. Factory floors have NEVER been undercoated and are 100% rust-free. In fact, the car has always been rock-solid and free of rust issues. An Oregon car it's whole life. All old cars receive words of praise these days but the countless and never ending positive comments this car always generates are overwhelming.

-INTERIOR-

Like the rest of the car, the interior is in outstanding condition. Correct bucket seats were an upgrade. Door panels and carpet are excellent. The headliner is very nice but needs to be tightened. More interior photos provided. The dash pad is also excellent. The gauge cluster and dash facia are done in carbon fiber and look fantastic. As I stated previously, I normally shy away from anything resembling custom but I do love the dashboard area of this car. Unique and gorgeous. Many compliments received. Tilt steering column was also a nice addition. -ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, SUSPENSION & BRAKES-

The gear heads and performance guru's are welcome to contact me for further mechanical details. For now I'll keep it concise and to the point. This is a built small block with solid lifter cam and roller rockers. I was told it's a 383 Stroker but I have no spec sheets so without tearing it down it's a bit of a mystery. I replaced the valve covers so I have seen inside. It's very clean. I did NOT perform any adjustments of any kind. The engine runs fine and seems to be very healthy. It would certainly benefit from tuning by a skilled tech. A serpentine belt system and electric water pump are nice upgrades. A large aluminum radiator keeps her cool at all times. Edelbrock aluminum heads, aluminum intake and Demon carburetor finish off the top end. The cam has that perfect lope at idle with a sound through the new exhaust that is music to a car guy. There is a vacuum pump to assist with braking but I disconnected it because the noise drove me crazy. The 4-wheel DISC brakes still stop just fine without it. You are welcome to hook it back up but I suggest ear plugs or turning up the stereo. All mechanical components have low miles on them. The 700R4 trans and POSI 10-bolt rear also have low mileage. I believe the rear ratio is 3:55. All suspension and steering are near new.

The license plates are 1967 originals and the only set to ever be mounted on the car.

PLEASE NOTE: The paint holds such a high shine that reflections are easily seen within the finish.

Is there a better word than beautiful?

Some pics I took here at home. I wanted to show the car in different lighting conditions.

Notice the reflections within the finish. You can easily see two of the Buick's and my 1955 Belair. Black is normally the only color that will show this.

There are some very light dimples only visible on close inspection where the right side of the hood mounts to the hinge underneath. Obviously, the previous owner would lightly press here to get the hood to close flush. A simple hinge adjustment took care of this. Very minor.

Both original quarters are spectacular.

For some reason these two photos rotated and I was unable to get them straight. In any case, there are 2 very small spots at the rear window trim where the paint has bubbled slightly. This occurred shortly after the car was painted several years ago and these imperfections have remained unchanged. I have no idea what caused them. As mentioned earlier in this write-up, the car has never had rust issues. These small blems are minor and the only real flaws to mention.

Headliner is excellent but needs to be tightened.

All gauges work properly and show excellent readings. The wipers operate correctly and the heater fan blows. The heater controls might need attention but the heat appears to work. The speedometer is NOT functioning. A custom cable and an adapter on the transmission will need to be made. The horn is also in-op.

Normally, I absolutely hate these B&M shifters but I actually love this one! It works flawlessly.

There is a little toggle switch under the red cover that turns on the torque converter lock-up. It works perfectly.

This car was originally gold on gold. There is no visible evidence of those original colors. As a purest I would not have been able to bring myself to change the factory colors. However, the car is much more gorgeous now.

This is the vacuum pump mounted on the left inner fender well. As mentioned, it is currently disconnected. Too noisy for me.

NEVER undercoated. The nicest 49 year old undersides anyone will find. These are the original floors. Amazing!

Another photo that rotated while laying out the display. Front tubular A-arms, etc... Just about all of these components are new.

Rear suspension and brakes.

Close-up of factory floors.

PLEASE NOTE: Within the minor details needing attention that I'm leaving for the next owner is an oil leak from the pan gasket and a small leak from the power steering line. Easy things to rectify but as I said in the very first paragraph of this write-up "I'm done". I'm passing on this short grocery list.

This is a very nice car that has had an embarrassing amount of time and money invested in it. The results of those investments are evident throughout the car. I'm hoping that my appreciation is contagious and that your impression is fully formed by now. It is simply beautiful and more than worthy of sitting next to the other members of my collection. Thanks again-____________________________________________________________
