I'm apologizing in advance for the very lengthy written description. However, if you have genuine interest in purchasing the car, please take the time to read every word. It's definitely worth the 15 minutes it will take. 1967 Chevelle 136 Vin One family owned since new Super Sport hood, emblems and trim added Done to Pro-touring standards Built 383 "Stroker" small block 700R4 overdrive transmission 4-wheel disc brakes & power steering Top of the line suspension components Custom fit 18 & 20 inch wheels and tires The list goes on Now that I'm almost 50 and have thinned my collection considerably over the last couple of years, most of what's in my garage is here to stay and maybe my wife will choose which one to bury me in. They are either cars I've had most of my life or vehicles I've always wanted to own so I sought them out like a hunter searching for prey. Occasionally, a vintage car or truck finds me and in a weak moment I add them to the herd. This is the case with my Chevelle. A close friend called and told me about the car and the sad story that came with it. The wife of the owner that had the car built needed to sell it. Unfortunately, a family crisis forced the sale. I met with her the next day and began building a bridge that ultimately led to the purchase of this car. I never enjoy purchasing a vehicle that's being sold out of desperation, especially when the car has been in the family since day-one. Yes, the aunt of the previous owner bought the car new. Stories like that take all the fun out of it. Nevertheless, a mutually beneficial deal was made and I took the car home. Once the car was in my garage I started the process of freshening and tightening up the restoration that had been done about 8 years before. The previous owner had several lucrative businesses and spent thousands of dollars on this car. I don't agree will all of his choices but the money was flowing and it was his dream to transform the Chevelle into a show-stopper that turned everyone's head. From what I can gather, he had all work done by local shops and professionals rather than doing any of the work himself. Very little sweat-equity. That luxury cost him dearly. The family swears more than 6 figures were invested in the restoration but without full documentation I'm uncomfortable standing by that claim. When you tell people that money is no object and that you have a "blank check" even the most honorable body men, painters, engine builders and interior guys will capitalize on the situation. And, boy did they! He received quality work and skilled craftsmanship but he over-paid for it all. What the heck, he had lots of cash to throw around. Sometimes good things come to an end. When the recession hit in 2008-2009 his circumstances changed drastically. Businesses folded and the fountain of money dried up. Even though the Chevelle was 90% completed by that time it primarily just sat in the garage needing final touches and bugs worked out. Again, although the car is a stunning rolling piece of art, I disagree with some of his choices but this is the canvas I had to work with. Don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous car with substantial investment that's easy to see, I'm just more of a purest at heart. That being said, even a collector like me that prefers originality and correctness has to admit that this is a neat car deserving appreciation. My bragging rights are limited. With the help of a close friend that possesses more skill than myself we made some moderate changes and improvements. The 18 & 20 inch wheels are brand new and a comprehensive engine compartment detailing/correcting was performed. Some excess wiring was cleaned up and we got just about everything to work properly. Previous owner was more concerned with a $4000 sound system than having functioning windshield wipers. The tunes are wonderful but I would have prioritized differently. With very few exceptions, I've been able to get the car dialed in extremely well. I've gone as far as I want to. It is a beautiful and nicely done car. Even though I appreciate the beauty and quality of this Chevelle, it does not have a piece of me. My motivation to cross off the last items on the grocery list of minor complaints is all but gone. The next owner can enjoy taking credit for final touches. The first few photos you'll see are of the exterior, interior, engine bay, etc... All of those areas are exceptional. I will provide details pertaining to condition and specifics under those pictures. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations pertaining to a 49 year old vehicle and they may differ from your own.
