DESCRIPTIONHIGHLIGHTS - Series AD - Stovebolt 194 CI six cylinder engine - 3-speed standard transmission - Black and Green with Green interior - Hydraulic shock absorbers - Garage kept SPECIFICATIONS Year: 1930 Make: Chevrolet Model: Universal Body: Sedan Engine: 194 CI Trans: 3-Speed Color: Black/Green Interior :Green VIN/SERIAL: 30559 While virtually indistinguishable from the 1929 Chevrolet. the 1930 Chevrolet Universal bore a number of significant distinctions and improvements. The popular 194 CI "Stovebolt Six" engine. which was previously advertised as "A Six in the price range of the Four". was strengthened in the bottom end with beefier crankshaft bearings and crankcase webbing. Larger intake valves and smaller exhaust valves. together with a new manifold. increased horsepower from 46 to 50. The rear axle was strengthened; new Lovejoy hydraulic shock absorbers were employed with smaller wheels and larger tires to smooth the ride. and internal expanding brake shoes were used all around. The fuel gauge was moved from the tank to the dash. above which the windshield was now slightly slanted backward to reduce glare. These evolutionary changes significantly improved the 1930 Chevrolet. an excellent example of which is found in this 1930 Series AD Universal Sedan. Jauntily finished in Green and Black with Yellow trim and a Green interior. the car features optional front and rear bumpers and the steel wheels that were standard equipment on the Chevrolet until mid-1930 when wire wheels became optional on all models. the famous 194 CI "Stovebolt" inline six cylinder engine backed by a 3-speed manual transmission. this attractive Chevrolet Universal is garage-kept and shows a mere 41. 46 miles.
