Description of 1972 Chevrolet C-10 SUPER |
It is not often a truck like this comes around that has all the options that C10 enthusiast’s desire! The truck is complete and show quality through out! Bid with confidence and feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule an inspection my name is Scott 912-414-2419. I purchased this 1972 C10 in 2013 and immediately began restoration, the truck was stripped down to the frame and sent to the Franks paint shop for paint and body work. Frank is a well known professional painter in the area and paints high quality classic cars. During the restoration Frank suggested that while the truck was apart, now was the best opportunity to paint the frame and also restore the underside of the truck… this led to a 3 year full restoration of the entire truck! BEGINNING: This Cheyenne started life as a factory 1972 Cheyenne, 2 wheel drive, short bed, loaded truck with air conditioning. It came factory medium red and white with black interior. It has many rare and desirable options such as deluxe interior, full gauges with tachometer, tilt steering wheel, headliner, power steering and power disc brakes, window trim, upper and lower belt moldings, and motor is now a big block 454 with turbo 400 automatic transmission and 12 bolt rear end. RESTORATION: The restoration has been extensive, time consuming and expensive! I have photos and receipts that document materials, labor and love put into making this truck making it show quality with attention to detail. During re-assembly of the truck, if anything was not correct, the project was put on hold until the correct parts were purchased. All parts came from the top suppliers and other parts were painted, lubed, and detailed with the quality of the restoration. DRIVETRAIN: The motor and transmission were removed and taken to Precision Engine, which is a professional engine builder in Sylvania GA. The motor was stripped down and inspected, then a hydraulic roller Comp Cam and push rods etc. were added for the lumpy sound and performance, new Holley carburetor, rebuilt turbo 400 transmission, starter, alternator, U-joints, timing assembly, exhaust with flowmasters, all fluids changed and necessary gaskets. The cooling system received new water pump, thermostat, 3 core aluminum radiator and dual 12” electric fans to keep the truck running and performing correct. The motor starts right up, sounds incredible and the transmission shifts like new. The engine bay is fully detailed and show quality throughout. CHASSIS: The frame has been repainted black and looks like new, the suspension has been lowered front and rear with matching red lowering coil springs, rear lowering blocks with the correct pinion angle, white and red McGaughy lowering shocks. The brakes were converted to rear disc, with new front and rear calipers, bearings, cross drilled rotors, new master cylinder, new brake booster and correct proportioning valve. The wheels and tires are brand new, Rev Tec classic rally wheels; 17X8 Front with 255/50r17 Nitto NT450 performance tires and 17X9 Rear with 275/50r17 Nitto NT450 performance tires. The wheels fit and look great and there is no rubbing at all. The Chassis and underside all look great and the truck drives very nice. The frame is original and has not been cut or modified. PAINT and BODY: Frank’s Paint Shop stripped this truck down and replaced the lower rocker panels, cab corners and installed new doors and tailgate. The truck was painted inside and out and inside of the bed and engine bay and cleared for a deep high gloss show quality finish. I replaced all of the trim with new correct trim, such as belt molding, bumpers, grille, door handles, cargo light, and tailgate panel. All the lights and lenses were replaced along with gaskets and hardware. All of the emblems are new too. All the glass has been replaced with new correct factory green tint glass, to include front, rear and side windows along with new wing windows, rubber, felt, gaskets etc. INTERIOR: The inside is basically all new too, it has new carpet with insulated pad, restored gauges, bezel, glass, bulbs, circuit board, glove box light, cargo light and interior cab light housing and lenses, rearview mirror ignition, cigarette lighter, door handles, window crank, pedals, Audio Sound radio with USB connection, Audio Sound dash speaker and under the seat speakers. The factory AC has been replaced with a Vintage Air heat and AC unit using the factory controls and works unbelievable! New vents, duct works, felt. Due to their already great condition, the seat, visors and dash pad were all cleaned and detailed and look new. ELECTRICAL: All of the electrical was replaced using an M+H Electric factory reproduction harness and fuse panel… from front to back it is all new. Everything works as it should. OVERALL: Overall this truck is a 100 point restoration, inside, outside and under the hood, behind the door panels, inside the bed and the underside, it’s all done and looks impressive. I have just completed a full 3 year high quality restoration, the truck has been stored inside my garage and only driven a few times since restoration. I have not shown the truck or driven it further than around town.
