Description of 1951 Chevrolet Other Pickups NO RESERVE |
1951 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup- USAFThanks for checking out my 1951 Chevrolet 3100 Pickup. This is an awesome truck. with some very nice unique history compared to a lot of other 3100 trucks out there. I love this generation of Chevy Pickups. nbsp;when you think about Vintage Chevy trucks. this is what comes to your mind. they are so popular. and a GM Icon. This truck originally served in the U. S. Air Force. stationed at McChord AFB. in Washington State. This truck served as a AFB service truck for many years during the Korean War Era. I am not sure when it left the USAF. but in the 1980's it was found in Seattle. Washington. and brought to Oregon. Around the mid 1990's a USAF Veteran was looking for one of these trucks to use in parades. nbsp;and wanted to do a replica truck. When he actually found a Real USAF truck it was the icing on the cake. He had it restored. very nicely. and kept with the correct Air Force Blue color theme. but chose to leave off all the USAF badging for every day use. You could easily do that in the future with decals. this truck is way to nice to have them painted on. He has sense passed away. it was his pride and joy. at that time it spent its life in Eugene. Oregon. I first saw the truck around 2005. A very nice retired gentleman. wanted a 1951 Chevrolet pickup. and found this one for sale in the local paper. He met with the gentleman that restored it. bought it and it has lived its life here in Salem since 2005. The new owner used the truck. as his every day driver. when it was nice out. I saw the truck all over the place. and always tried to chase him down but you know how it is. nbsp; it made a turn then vanished. it is the thrill of the chase for me. One day. I was out driving around. and tucked back behind a house in a garage was the nose of this truck sticking out of the garage. I drove by a couple times. and decided to knock on the door. All I could see is the grill area from the street. I talked to the gentleman a bit. and he took me out to see the truck. thats when I realized it was the one that I have been trying to get my hands on for the last 10 years. After talking to the gentleman for a bit. is when I found out that this truck was an Air Force truck. out of McChord. which brought back a lot of memories for me as well. I grew up as a Military kid. and in the early 70's. we lived at that very same base. I have always had a draw toward vehicles that have been used for the armed forces. and have owned many Military Jeeps in the past. Most people obviously would not associate the truck with the Military. because it is a good looking truck. and the color is in tune with 40-50's rigs. it isn't until you see the Original Military tag under the hood. that you understand the upper story of this truck. and that it was used to help protect what we have here in the USA. our Freedom. Please read the whole auction. there is tons of information. lots of pictures about the general condition of the truck. If you would like to see it in person before you bid. please give me a call. I would love to tell you more about it. I have been selling classic cars here on eBay since 2003. 12 years now. with around 500 classic cars sold over the internet. with 100% Feedback. I have sold multiple cars to many buyers all over from Europe. Dubai. Australia. Japan. Brazil. nbsp; just to name a few. It has always been a pleasure. getting to know other car enthusiast all over the Continent. especially some that have become very good friends of mine because of our love for cars. I look forward to doing business here on ebay for many years to come. and look forward to meeting some other like minded classic car nuts like myself. If you would like to call me and talk about the car. that would be great. would love to help you out. if you want to call and talk about cars. it would be my pleasure. I am on the hunt for any Interesting classics. please give me a call. 503-910-2085 - Jason. CONDITION:This is a very nice truck. painted the original Azure Blue. it is in very nice shape and condition. The truck was never abused. very clean panels. Inside the fenders and inner wells are in very nice condition. The lower cowls. door james. and cab are in excellent shape. There are no signs of any rust that I can see on the truck. very solid. the bottom of the cab corners are very nice inside and out. they have not been replaced. The bottoms of the doors. the cowl. are in excellent shape. no bubbles. or any visible repairs. The floor pan is again very nice. no patches. The running boards are in very nice condition. The paint is about 15-20 years old. not sure when it exactly got finished. but know it is at least 15 years since it was restored. The paint is in good shape. it shows its age in a few areas. were there are little chips. and light scratches that have been touched up. Overall I would consider this truck an excellent driver. but it is show worthy. and parade worthy for sure. You really have to be looking close to notice imperfections here and there on it. Look through the pictures and you will see little chips. and scratches. The color is a true Air Force Blue. but it will play tricks on you. out in really bright sunlight. it really perks up. in overcast or partly cloudy it gets darker. The day I took the photos. the sun would pop in and out. and the color in photos would change constantly. It is a medium blue. just like you would see on any Air Force rig. some of the photos came out a little brighter because of the sun. the darker shades is a good example for sure. but in sunlight it is correct as well because that is what it looks like. The bed is very nice. a few light dings and scuffs on the inside along the walls. There are a few cracks in the paint on the bed on the top rail toward the back. A few imperfections on the paint. on the bed in the seams. The Oak Floor. stained in Cherry Chestnut color with Stainless steel rails really look good. It was just installed last week. these are all cut boards. all channeled correclty. and it just looks great. nicely done. This is a very nice truck. very straight and nice fenders. very clean and just good looking. The chrome on the truck is decent. but there is some road wear on it. the rear bumper has some long scratches on it across the back. see in pictures. The interior is in nice condition. restored in the late 90's. it has a little wear but over all very clean. and presentable. Seat is in nice shape. no rips or tears. it has been used and ridden in but very nice seat. and comfy inside. Very clean inside. non smoker. the door panels. are in nice condition. The headliner. has some warping to it pretty common. It has radio factory delete. The wipers have been upgraded to electic. and has 2 switches for the fog lamps. and the rear back up light. The turn signals. brake lights. dash lights all work. The floor mat is in nice shape as well. it is worn but in good shape. Overall. for a very nice driver. occasional show rig interior is in nice shape. Chrome shows a little pitting. minor but it is original. Steering wheel has some minor cracks. The glass is in good shape. the drivers windshield has a little hazing around the edge. Were the Star sticker is at bottom corner. there is a little delamination on the glass. The passenger door glass rolls up and down. but about half way down. it needs just a little bit of help. needs to be leveled out. not to big of deal. just needs an adjustment. It stays nice and dry inside. the gaskets all look in good shape. The cowl vent for fresh air opens and closes nicely. Mechanically this truck is in excellent condition. The 216 Inline 6 starts right up and purrs like a kitten. It does not burn any oil and does no blow smoke. it is actually running in all the photos. It runs nice and cool. It has very good acceleration. and idles nicely. The transmission is a stock 4spd transmission. and shifts good. Clutch feels very good. no chatter. gears shift very smooth. It brakes very good. does not pull. feels good. The exhaust on it. is dual. with Split Fenton Headers. lets it breath a bunch better. an nice add on an older truck like this. The gear ratio in the rear. is 3. 55:1. rearend feels good. no clunky noises. The truck. steers nicely. it wonders a bit. steering wheel has a lot of slop in it. you get used to it after 5 minutes of driving. The steering box is probably worn a bit. but functions. I had the valve cover off. and the rockers are all nice and clean. this is a 216 engine. like it is supposed to have in this year. All the gauges inside do work. the oil pressure. gas. temp and amp all work. The speedometer works good. and odometer are working. The wipers are electric. with new blades. The heater is all hooked up. it has power to the switch. and it seems like it wants to go. but the heater motor might need to be taken out. I think it has not been used in such a long time. it might need to be worked a little and lubed to get it working. All the hoses under dash are all there. heater hoses are new so it should work. if not might need a new motor which is pretty easy to find. This is seriously a truck that you can hop in and drive and enjoy right now. The tires are Goodyear. Bias Ply truck tires. Black walls. they are in very nice shape. plenty of tread. no cracks in them. The Portowalls. come with the truck. they are all boxed. they are used but in nice shape. I put them on one side you so you could see what it would look like with White Walls. I like it both ways. Again. the truck does not have Real White Walls on it. they are old school fake Portowalls. Give me a Call if you have questions!*U. S. and International bidders welcome as long as your friendly! Old Reliable 216. these engines are true works of art. every Chevy 6 cylinder in the future was based off this engine. even a lot of Foreign cars used Chevrolets design. It is all stock with the addition of Fenton Split Manifold and dual exhaust. Oak Bed. is beautiful. with Stainless Steel rails. This truck passed through this McChord Air Force Base many times when it was stationed there in the early 50's. All the exterior lights work on the truck. You see it here with White Walls. these are actually the same Black wall tires you see in all the photos. but I slipped on a couple PortoWalls I had so you could see what it looked like if you choose to put white walls on one day. These are Fake Whitewalls. I will give you the set of 4 if you like. they will be boxed and not installed on the truck. Here it is again. with the Portowalls off of it. this is what the truck will show up looking like when you get it. The sun was crazy today. when the sun is out. it really gets bright!!! Back up light work. This is the US Air Force Military Tag below. the truck is titled off the number. The State of Oregon. wanted something visible in the door jam. they used the same 20JPC3696 US Air Force Number. Comes with a few books and owners manual. These are the 4 portowalls. that are included if you want them. Couple paint scuffs on the doors. from getting in and out. but overall clean doors. no rust in the bottoms. when you see the bottoms you will be amazed. the drain holes are clean. I love the dash in these old Chevrolets!!! Horn works. Factory Radio delete. you also can see the Dash Lights on and working. Out for a little stroll down the street everything is working good. Also notice next picture down. the Odometer works as well. Odometer reads 12. 38 currently. Assume it has rolled over. I don't have any documentation on miles. but Military vehicles on an Air Force Base. did not get driven that often. so it could be true. This is the heater. it is currently not working. but it wants to. it powers up. with the switch. but the electric motor might need to be taken out. and worked a little bit. seams like it is semi-seized. but not sure. Headliner is the factory cardboard. it has lots of warping. Amazing under the doors. no rust. Truck is very straight down the sides. the panels line up nice. very smooth and glossy fenders. Engine compartment is very clean. and detailed. Everything is in working order. choke and pull manual pull throttle all work. Factory Oil bath. Oak Bed just installed. in very nice condition. Underneath is very clean. unrestored. but in nice condition. Notice the Dual exhaust. a very nice add with the Fenton Headers. 2 small chips in the passenger rear fender. Very clean bottoms of the cabs. see drain hole at the bottom. Chip on the cab next to the door edge. drivers side. Couple light chips and scratch on the lower fender passenger rear. A little wear on the bed sides. Very clean bottoms of the Cowls. Small chip on passenger fender on top. Small paint imperfection on top of drivers fender. It is hard to show every little thing on this truck. just showing the things that stand out. It is a very nice truck. but the paint is over 15 years old. but looks very nice. 3 small scuffs on lower drivers fender. you have to look close to see these actually. Already showed this light scratch and chip on passenger rear fender. it is down low most people don't notice it. Running boards are very clean. no rust. they do have some scuff marks on top from being used. but very acceptable. Bottom of cab. very clean no rust. The reflection is from the running board. and the running board bolt. Grill is nice. has a few light dings in it. but very clean.
