Description of 1959 Chevrolet Other Pickups Fleetside |
Up for sale is my Bagged 1959 Chevrolet Big Window Apache Pick-up Truck, I have owned it for 5 years but I am ready to build an older chopped hot rod. I hand built this truck from the ground up. It is my baby but it is time to let her go. Here is the low down. Stock frame is modified. It has a full rebuilt 1975 Camaro clip and a big rear notch. It has 2600 front bags and 2 inch spindles. The rear is a modified 4 link with triple bags and 11 inches of lift. It is triangulated and does not need a panhard bar. The airlines are ½”. The drive train consists of a 5.7 Vortec mated to a 700r4 transmission. The heads are 906 with the spring pockets cut for the cam. Inside is a ZZ4 roller cam, lifters and spring set from Scoggins Dickey. The roller rockers are 1.52 to 1. The intake is a Weind Eliminator and the carb is a 670 double pumper. It has headers with turbo mufflers. The rear is an S10 3.42 non-posi. The drive shaft is custom from Southern Speed. The front wheels are 22x9 with 265/40 tires. The rears are 22x11 with 305/40 tires. It has disc brakes all around with a C10 booster and master cylinder. It has an adjustable proportioning valve under the dash. The body was taken down to bare metal and epoxied. The cab needed corners and rockers replaced. The doors needed bottoms. The fenders needed lower patch panels. The bed was rust free but needed a rear corner repaired. The floor needed a little repair from a previous owner cutting around the tranny area. All glass is new. The vent windows and door regulators are rebuilt. I tried to keep the inside stock. It has a stock radio, heater control and gauge cluster. It has a new tilt steering column. The seat was rebuilt and re-covered. It has been dyna-matted. It sits flat on the rockers. The frame has steel channel attached that touches about ¼” before the rockers touch. It will drive about an inch off the ground. It has so many little things it is hard to mention them all. Aluminum radiator, 69 Mustang gas tank, electric fuel pump, Viair pump, Yellow Optima, all new wiring harness and some shiny pieces. The good: Starts every time. Runs strong. Sits on the ground. Gets lots of attention everywhere I take it. I drive it to shows. The bad: It rides low and needs to be aired up to turn sharp. I drive it at about 50lbs in the front and it turns on normal roads. I bump it up to get into parking spaces. It needs shocks. It needs a paint job. (I painted it piece by piece and it is not consistent) The truck is titled in my name as a 1959 Chevrolet Truck and registered in my name. I am the owner. It has antique Texas license plates.
