Description of 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 |
Thanks for viewing my listing. This Biscayne has been completely mechanically sorted and is ready for the next owner to enjoy. College tuition and the next project dictate that I move on. Please look at comparable listings as you will see either fully restored cars or something prime for restoration. This car is a great combination of restoration, preservation and modification.
The car was built in the Oakland, CA plant and was purchased from southern CA so the frame is solid and the floor pans are solid although there is a pin hole in the trunk floor. I inspected from the underside when I installed a new fuel float and it shows the original factory red primer. The interior was done to a very high level of finish by a previous owner with a much higher level of trim than any Biscayne would have had from the factory. Two tone knit brocade with White Vinyl inserts and very high quality original style carpet with heavy wool/jute backing. Seats are comfortable and springs and padding show no signs of wear. I figure they must have been completely reupholstered when the rest of the interior was redone. I have repaired the window registers and all the windows glide up and down smoothly and the quarter vent windows still operate smoothly as well. T3 style headlamps with floor actuated High Beams, two speed wipers. Newer replica side mirrors, LED Tail lights for much better visibility than stock, new badges and parking light lenses. Way too many small parts to list. What the car needs: It could benefit from front and rear windshield gaskets, they are still tight but appear dried out. The quarter vent windows show some minor signs of delamination along the edges, but are in good shape. The bumpers are original and while in decent shape, the chrome is a little dull. All the stainless is present, but only the rear fin pieces have been polished. Minor scratches on the windshield. Very minor bubbling on lower rear driver's side quarter only but has not gotten any worse during my 7 years of ownership. Heater core is blocked off due to a leak, but the fan works and all the ducting is present and works. Radio does not work, but is present. Paint is a 10 foot job with an older single stage lacquer paint that shows some minor spots where the paint appears slightly lighter at some angles in bright sun but holds a great shine and presents very nicely. Some chips, minor scratches, etc. Patina is consistent with an older restoration, but the car is still a serious head turner. A good, solid Hot Rod that would grace any driveway and will bring home trophies too. Great driver, all receipts from my ownership available, best value on the web for this year and make. Drive it home. I invite your personal inspection, or that of an agent. No brokers please. No trades. No warranties expressed or implied. Working odometer reads 89,000+, but I have no idea of actual mileage. I have done my best to describe the car in its current condition, but invite your questions. Additional photos available if needed. Update: I have uploaded a new walkaround video on YouTube. I have an older one from 2011(?) before the powertrain rebuild it's titled "1960 Biscayne Big Block". You will recognize the car. The new video, posted this morning is titled "1960 Biscayne Big Block (2) Walkaround". Please note there are some new photos added at the request of some. I'm always willing to add new information, please contact me with any questions about the car. Thanks for looking. On Dec-06-16 at 18:10:25 PST, seller added the following information: 12/06/16 - Please note, this car has been cross listed on a number of other web sites and I reserve the right to end the auction early due to other offers. I am re-listing after a previous deal fell through. This is a driver quality car and presents and functions as such. I have tried to be clear as possible regarding the car's condition. Chevrolet made a lot of these, but as with anything, you never really appreciate something until it's gone. I have not seen another 1960 Biscayne or Bel Air in similar condition for anything approaching my requested price. Please search the web thoroughly as I believe you'll come to the same conclusion. As mentioned previously, I am willing to answer any additional questions or send any specific pictures of this fine beast. I have clear title to the car but being the recipient of bogus cashier's checks in the past, will not release the car or title until the winning bidder's payment has cleared. |
