Description of 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 Sport Coupe |
I considering selling my 1962 Chevrolet Bel Air Bubble Top. This car maintains all of its original/rust free sheet metal. Dry southern California car. It looks good and drives even better! EXTERIOROverall the car looks great. The paint is approximately fifteen years old. The car has been driven and enjoyed, therefore it has a few minor imperfections. It had one respray of its original, period correct paint. It has held up very well. I love it because it allows me to drive the car without the headache and worries of a $20k paint job. I am not ashamed to take it to any local car show or cruise in. The exterior trim is all present and very good shape. No obvious dings that I can recall. The car looks like it is traveling 50 mph while at a stand still. INTERIORThe interior is 100% original. The carpet, headliner and door panels are in great shape. The rear seat is perfect. The only imperfection is a slight separation in the cloth portion of the driver seat bottom. This can be expected for a car nearly 60 years old. I have researched it and determined you can purchase the cloth insert for $75 per yard at Ciadella. Total cost of repair would be less than $150. I have not bothered replacing it because I appreciate the originality and patina of this rare car. DRIVE LINEThe car is powered by its number matching 283 V8 and backed by its numbers matching two speed powerglide. The motor offers plenty of power to keep up at modern highway speeds. I have no problem cruising at 70 mph with power to pass if needed. I recently had the motor serviced and tuned. In addition, I added new exhaust from front to back with a set of flowmasters. The car has a healthy sound without being excessive. I have also upgraded the drum brakes to front disc brakes with slotted rotors. This gave me the assurance in the event somebody topped suddenly in front of me. Here again, a necessity for freeway driving. I have absolute faith in this car. It has never left me stranded. I would not hesitate to drive it cross country today. I feel this is a car you could fly in and drive home. SHEET METALThis is an AMAZINGLY solid car. It has its original floor pans, rockers, braces and trunk. This car has never been apart or undergone an extensive restoration. Simply well maintained and preserved since day one. I believe it is one of less then 5 REAL 1962 Bubble Tops that could be considered "original." I am not here to debate but most of the cars representing themselves as 1962 Bubble Tops are converted Impalas. Many that are true 1962 Bel Air Bubble Tops were once rust monsters that now have Chinese floors, rockers and braces. They have been restored with fillers and given layers of paint to make them look pretty. EXTRASAll of the lights, turn signals, gauges, dummy lights still work. The courtesy and dome lights still work. The original AM radio fades in and out. The clock does not work. I DO have the original panted wheels and poverty dog dish hub caps. The car was lowered two inches with lowering coils. NO cutting of any kind to preserve the car. I added a new set of 18/20 Intro's staggered. I understand some may not like them. I will consider putting the original wheels and factory coils back on the car if the winning bidder prefers. This must be negotiated prior to the end of auction. All body panels line up perfect. Doors shut effortlessly. No sagging or needing to slam the door in order for it to shut. They quietly "click" shut. Body is laser straight. All glass is excellent and line up great. The car is sold with a clear California title. Vintage plates are not included. TERMSThis auction will end on Wednesday, January 11th at 12:00PM Pacific Standard Time. This car is located in Chino Hills, CA. I can be contacted at 714-234-6095 for additional questions. I strongly suggest you ask questions and inspect the car prior to bidding. All questions and inspections must be performed before prior to the end of auction. You are bidding to purchase, NOT to think it over or inspect. Please have your finances in order prior to bidding. I require a $1000 fee within 24 hours of close of auction. The balance to be paid no later then four business days after the close of auction. I reserve the right to remove the listing at any time as the car is for sale locally. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. This is an extremely rare opportunity to own a REAL 1962 Bel Air Bubble Top. I have recently observed conversions selling for more then my reserve price. The limited production, coupled with the solid/rust free body make this car extremely unique. On Jan-04-17 at 13:58:15 PST, seller added the following information: VIN DECODE21637XXXXXX |
