Description of 1962 Chevrolet C-10

Selling The Lamb Fab shop truck code named project Tetanus Shot! This is a 1962 C-10 that I located in the middle of the grass planes in Chino Valley AZ while searching for parts for another truck. It was so weathered and had been sitting for more years than the previous owner could remember. The truck had so many stories to tell, so many dents, a miss matched fender, a expanded metal sheet in place of the original bed wood floor with deer hides covering it. I knew if I didn't save her she would sit there and rot into the earth. The truck had a clean title so I scooped it up and drug it back To my shop Lamb Fab LLC in Gilbert AZ to begin the transformation. I loved the stories and mystery to the rough rugged patina exterior and the attitude it gave the truck. Like an old soldier with battle wounds and untold stories for every one of them. I decided to approach this truck a different approach than our award winning magazine feature builds. On the exterior we kept every dent, every imperfection, cleaned it thoroughly and sprayed each individual part with PPG clear coat to preserve all of that attitude. The small amount of rust inside on the cab floor was all cut out and patch panels were fabricated and welded in. I wanted the inside and underside of this truck to be like Jekyll and Hyde to the exterior. Inside the truck was treated to a show truck interior with beautiful ppg victory red paint, a custom upholstered red original bench seat, Dakota digital carbon VHX gauges( with so many features I don't have room to list them here) a full retro sound stereo with usb in the dash, blue tooth and hands free calling (yes there is a small speaker by the roof for hands free calls) and the best feature is the all new Vintage air electronic a/c and heat system that will keep you comfortable in any climate. Gear selections on the 4l60e automatic transmission are controlled with an extra long Lokar shifter with cable linkage for an amazing feel. Simple red lap belts with chrome buckles were added for an upgrade to safety. Under the hood i a late model drive by wire fuel injected computer controlled Vortec 5.3 ls based engine from a late model suburban. I tore the engine down and added new cam bearings, a gm performance oil pump, ls2 timing chain, ls7 hydraulic roller lifters, a Texas speed 224R camshaft and all new gm performance valve springs. The engine was meticulously prepped and painted in the same ppg Victory red as the interior. This engine compartment is a show stopper! The engine has a custom tune and is very daily drive able while producing an amazingly wicked sounds through the 3in flowmaster mandrel bent side exit exhaust fabricated here in house by myself. The lope at idle and soud all the way to redline is incredible!!!! This little engine is a tire punisher and creates smiles for days! To keep it cool a custom tig welded aluminum radiator with computer controlled electric fan was selected. The fan also kicks in to work with the a/c. To back up all of that power the 4 speed overdrive electronically controlled 4l60 e was selected. It was disassembled by KB transmission in mesa for an inspection and to install an upgraded sprag and fully service it internally. A 2500rpm stall converter was selected to perfectly match the Texas speed camshaft. Power comes from the transmission down a custom drive shaft with new yoke and u joints as well as a precision balance from phoenix rack and axle to the original Eton rear axle. I loved the look of this rear axle and the 3.90 gear ratio was perfect for the performance side of this wicked pickup. These tough old course spline rear ends are a drop out 3rd member style like a ford 9in. The rear axle was completely re sealed, brakes inspected cleaned and adjusted and for maximum traction and fun the rear differential was welded solid to act like a spool and provide full traction to both tires at the same time. With the light weight of the rear of this truck the welded differential is hardly noticed when turning but definitely puts the power down on a straight line. The old eton rear axle is in good condition but does make the stereo typical ring and pinion noise at 40 to about 60 mph from its crude cut gears. I feel it adds to the attitude of the truck and the personality so I kept it. The suspension and steering was completely rebuilt with all new bushings bearings, color matched shocks, western drop spindles up front and 5in drop coil springs with the appropriate frame notch to provide an incredible ride and stance. A disc brake conversion was added as well as a power brake conversion which provides a firm confidence inspiring pedal feel. Power steering was added to the new front end with a brand new steering gear and arm. The truck was completely re wired with a modern mini fuse harness and all joints were soldered and heat shrink tubing used throughout. All new electrical switches in the dash insure reliability. All of the lighting on the truck was converted to modern and expensive light emitting diode technology just like new luxury cars use. This provides outstanding visibility and a very cool look at night. Up top high on the back of the cab is a reproduction harley "STOP" light used as a 3rd brake light. Inside the bed I wanted nothing but the best wood so red oak was chosen. To start the grain of the wood was burned with a torch to darken and give depth. Then the wood was sprayed with a custom mix of ppg clear, black and red pigment with a red pearl to create a bed like no other we have ever seen. With the all new polished stainless strip and hardware this bed is a work of art! The bumpers were missing from the truck when I got it so new bumpers and brackets were sourced. The bumpers were treated to the same patina treatment as the "Stop" light and the cab led clearance lights. They truly look original. To finish off the look I scoured the web and found collectible vintage bumper stickers from the correct era and location. They really finish off the truck. On top of the PPG flat clear I hand painted our shop logo on the door, added our phone number and our catch phrase on the tail gate "shits and gets" all of these additions were done on top of the clear coat so they can be removed if desired with thinner or careful wet sanding. This truck would be an amazing advertisement piece to attract business to any restaurant, taco shop, automotive shop or simply to daily drive and get way more attention than any exotic car. The truck currently has only 121 test miles on it since completed. Everywhere it goes people are drawn like flies to the sound, and the in your face attitude of Project Tetanus Shot. Over all of the builds I have done over the years this is the hardest one to let go of. It truly produces so many smiles per mile that everyone who drives or rides in it is like a giddy giggling school girl. I have many more pictures of this build if needed.
