Description of 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle SS

THERE ARE OVER 80 PICTURES OF THIS ONE OF A KIND 1968 TRUE SS CHEVELLE IF YOU DON’T SEE THEM SCROLL INSIDE THE DESCRIPTION BOX. REMEMBER IT IS A NO RESERVE SO THE HIGH BIDDER WILL OWN THIS AMERICAN ICON!!!!

You are bidding on a Pro-Street True 138 SS 1968 Chevelle. To start off this car is probably the most documented Chevelle SS you will find, I have a 4 inch think book of everything done throughout the years and have pictured only some of it, the owner kept meticulous records from oil changes to spark plug changes. It even has a copy of a GM recall in the early 1970’s for a fast idle cam. I have the original broadcast sheet, build sheet, protect o plate, sales receipt, and loan pay-off from 1971. It is just absolutely incredible, even has a Florida SS 396 license plate tag still on it and the factory 1968 owners manual not a reproduction!

Now to start with the good stuff this car was a one owner car, it was always kept in a enclosed garage so no rust and I have all the paperwork dating back to the original purchase along with all the modifications and repairs throughout the years as mentioned earlier. The car was an original Tuxedo Black car with Buckets It was purchased new in Oregon. Right away it was already at home on the track but this ultimately lead to the original engine being removed and many different engine combinations installed throughout the years. The transmission and rear are still original to the car, rebuilt of course.

The paint and body were done back in the 1990’s and it is still in excellent shape for its age, some minor wear and tear but nothing major as you can tell by the pictures, and still has a great shine. No real rust at all I could find and could not find any bondo. The front fenders, doors, hood, and trunk were replaced with fiberglass to reduce weight and they fit extremely well and to be honest you wouldn’t really notice by how well they fit that they are not original. The quarters, roof, and bumpers are still the original steel from 1968 that still look like new, shows you how well the car was preserved and taken care of. All of the side glass was replaced with lexan I have the drivers and passengers lexan ready to be snapped in. The front and rear windshield are still glass. Most of the lights work including the dash lights, head lights, tail lights, etc. The wipers were removed but the firewall is uncut and they could be easily reinstalled. Yenko stripes were installed when the car was painted to give it a custom look and it really draws a crowd when not running at the car shows, when you start this beast everyone runs to come look at it. The firewall is uncut and all factory and the car is NOT TUBBED so you could easily put it back to stock if you wanted.

The underneath is probably the most solid you will find, no patches, no replacement parts, just soild 1968 sheet metal. The frame is spotless as well and you can tell by the pictures. The trunk is in nice shape it has a 10 gallon fuel cell installed with a trunk mount battery for weight distribution.

The interior is mostly a pro-street type with factory Bucket Seats in very nice shape, and the factor dash and gauges. Aftermarket Auto-Meter gauges were installed along with a recall tachometer. A full roll cage is installed and I have all the extra padding to be installed around it, but personally I was going to remove it to turn it back more stock looking.

Now for the fun it currently has a fresh 434 Stroker with only 100 street miles and 4 passes on it, although not the original 396 this monster will blow by any big block. It is completely set up with a machined and reinforced 434 stroker block starting with a 010 block and 4 bolt main with splayed caps. Pro-billet crank with eagle rods, J&E forged pistons. Melling High Volume Oil Pump, and Clevite 77 Bearings. Bowtie 23 degree heads all freshened up with 2.08 valves, and a crane full roller valve train with stud girdles top it off. A Isky .610 lift roller camshaft was installed for a pump gas friendly street engine and MSD distributor and electronics including rev control and launch control were all installed. Victor JR ported intake to match the heads were installed with a custom built 850 Holley. New Chrome 100 AMP alternator just installed. There is so much more and everything else is documented in the paperwork. Hooker super competition headers flowing into a custom mandrel bent 3” exhaust exit out the back. Given my other cars that have been on a dyno I would say it is somewhere around the 650 Horse range it is stupid fast and will leave any new car in the dust especially with all the weight reduction. This car is a beast, and as stated earlier the engine is completely fresh with only 4 passes on it and I was told it ran a 10.60 just the way it sits, which I believe. I have driven it up the road and back a few times and it is a absolute blast, the car is set up right and was not a cheap build. The engine runs flawlessly it is currently tuned for the street so it does not overheat, it runs off 93 pump gas and starts right up.

The fuel system is a complete custom built AED 850 Holley with Dual Holley electric fuel pumps and dual fuel pressure regulators. Complete stainless fuel lines with AN fittings are ran from front to back. Cooling is a custom 4 core radiator, with electric motor on the new aluminum high volume water pump, I have had it sitting for well over an hour and it doesn’t get over 180.

The Turbo 400 was all done up and built right with manual shift reverse valve body, hardened internals, 3800 stall and much more. The original 12 bolt rear was rebuilt with Strange 35 spline axles, Eaton posi unit, Richmond 4:10 gears. Heavy duty bearing and seals, etc.

Rims and tires are new Centerlines with cheater slicks on the back that are street legal along with Hoosier slicks up front. All the suspension was rebuilt for the strip including adjustable 4 way shocks in the rear with front and rear sway bars, fully adjustable control arms, eibach springs, etc. Brakes are the factory front disc and rear drum with a manual booster and the car stops excellent.

Overall if you want a very nice well documented TRUE SS 138 1968 Chevelle that you can get in and enjoy right now and pretty much embarrass any car that pulls up next to you then this is the Muscle car for you. On the other hand it is still easily capable of being returned to a completely stock, the firewall is uncut, the car was NOT TUBBED. Etc and with the extensive paperwork and being an original Tuxedo Black car you would have yourself a stunning addition to any high dollar collection. There was countless hours and money invested into making this car what it is, the engine alone would run you well over $12,000 to build. Any questions call Frank at 863-381-4954 or to schedule an appointment to come look at the car. Car is sold AS-IS and I have a clear Florida title and I can promise you my cars are as advertised. You can look at my feedback I am very honest. I am a private collector and am just looking to downsize my collection. Remember this is a NO RESERVE auction so the high bidder will take this true muscle car and American icon home. Payment is due within 7 days on auction ending no exceptions unless prior arrangements have been made. Please do all inspections and have all funds in order prior to auction ending, thank you!
