Description of 1986 Chevrolet Corvette |
1986 Corvette Indy Pace Car EditionThis is a very rare yellow Indy Pace Car Edition. all 1986 convertible Corvette's were considered Pace Cars and came with the fender and door decals. The Yellow car was the one's that actually paced the race making the yellow cars more valuable and rare. This car is loaded and originally sold for $35. 336 and has lots of factory options including air conditioning. automatic transmission. upgraded 95 top with heated glass rear window. heavy duty cooling. oil cooler plus many more. See the window sticker photo for a complete list. Has very good tread left on the Michelin tires. I have and will include with this sale all the original paperwork including the delivery papers. warranty paperwork and owner's manual. original window sticker and build sheets and new window sticker ordered though Bowling Green. This car was originally bought by a Doctor in Anaheim who had it stolen in 1992 and by the time it was recovered the Insurance Company had paid him off for the car. When the car was stolen it had about 40k miles on it. The thieves burst a radiator hose. overheated the motor and parked it. The Police found it a few weeks later and by that time the insurance company had paid off the owner. Hawk's Corvette in Phoenix bought the car from the insurance company. put a new radiator in it and put the car up for sale. A buyer from Tucson bought the car on 1/11/92 and drove it back to Marana. The owners son who was a mechanic with GM dealership in Tucson checked the car and found bearing damage and transmission damage. The original engine and transmission were removed and the transmission was completely rebuilt including new torque converter. An original 1986 Corvette short block was bought from GM and installed. The original bare engine block will be included in the sale. Over the years many items have been replaced on this car including a 95 convertible top with glass rear window. complete AC system. leather seats. all carpeting. starter. alternator and battery. new leather steering wheel. upper and lower center consoles. The car also just has no oil leaks and just had the oil pan gasket replaced within the last year. The car has an upgraded security system from Eckler's Corvette that was designed for the C4 corvette with two wireless remotes that integrates with the factory VAT security system. The car has an updated Panasonic CD stereo with new speakers. Included in the sale will be the original head unit. I have a large binder filled with receipts dating back 11/92 including a copy of the build sheet. receipt for the engine block. engine rebuild. exhaust system. transmission rebuild. fuel pump and every part that was purchased for the car since it was bought from Hawk Corvette's. Within the last year or so I have replace all four brakes with new ventilated rotors. pads and brake fluid flush. nbsp;oil pan gasket replaced and a new battery. This is a original paint survivor car which is a 10 footer but up close you can see the typical chips and dings that a car that is almost 30 years old has. Known problems:Minor leak from the steering gear. Cable for the hood release works but needs replacement. (replacement goes with the sale)The power antenna does not go up or down. when I bought the car it was that way and the owner said he did not know why it stopped working. The telescoping steering wheel lock does not work and did not work when I replace the steering wheel. Paint has chips and dings and there is a crack in the rear bumper as if someone had backed into the bumper. There is someone clear coat missing around the rear bumper near the license plate. If you have any questions. want photos or want to look at the car please email me. |
