SPLIT PERSONALITY 1973 CHEVROLET CAMARO RESTOMOD SHOW CAR LINK TO YOUTUBE VIDEO OF CAR: https://youtu.be/gFlZLIlRzBQ MORE INVENTORY: WWW.CALI-MOTORS.COM FOLLOW ON FACEBOOK AT: WWW.FACEBOOK.COM/CALIMOTORS RESTOMOD. Simply taken, it means to take the best example of a fully restored car, and then modify the weak linksin that car, ie, the powertrain, suspension, electronics, brakes, steering, and sound system to create something that has all the visual appeal of a classic Muscle Car, but with the modern safety, performance, handling, and comfort of a newer vehicle. That explanation about sums up this killer 1973 Chevrolet Camaro split bumper, and the car is a proven and reliable street machine that you could drive daily or simply show and enjoy. Born a V8 car in Green Glow Poly with Green Vinyl interior, the car was completely stripped and redone into the buildersvision of an SS-badged monster with the best of the best in parts and accessories. The car has an extremely straight, solid, and rust/rot free body. You can take a 4 inch square felt covered magnet over the entire painted surface of the car and it will stick like glue. Yes, like every single car from the 80son back that I have ever seen, I am sure that it does have a skim coat of filler used somewhere in it. It does NOT have panels made of bondo, crushed up beer cans, chicken wire, or anything else. This is a top quality build with a large investment made in the restoration and components, and the body panel condition reflects this. Gaps are quite nice, and doors close easily and correctly with sagging, slop, bounce-back, or latch/pin misalignment. The 3 INCH cowl hood is extremely aggressive looking on the car from the outside, and the driver seat! It looks fantastic, and has exceptionally good fit and alignment for a non-stock part. Hood pins look mean, and add an added level of security. Silver stripes across the hood and trunk look great, and really set off the finish. Rear deckling spoiler looks awesome, and finishes off the tail of the car nicely. The car wears a beautiful over-all finish of custom-blended red that really pops in the sunlight, and looks equally as stunning under the boulevard lamps glow. Having been driven just over 3,000 miles since completion a few years ago, the car does show a handful or so typical minor marks and blemishes like stone chips, tiny scuffs, and other things, but as you can see from the 100 photos and the HD video provided, NOTHING that really stands out or detracts from the overall presentation of the car. The car shines beautifully, the paint is deep and glossy, and the majority of sellers would just say the finish was perfect and move on. I just want you to know that if you poke around, you will find some minor imperfections so you will not besurprised. Again, look at the 100 extra-large photos from every angle, and watch the video. They clearly let you see the show-quality level of the finish on the car. Glass on the car is all in very good condition, with a legal-limit Florida tint on the side and rear windows, and tinted banding on the windshield. There are no cracks, chips, or laminate issues with any of the glass at this time. Side mirrors are body colored, and look and function wonderfully. Door handles, window trim, front split bumpers, headlamp surrounds, rear bumper, and rear lamp surrounds all look amazing, and shine like new on the car. SS badging on the sides of the car and the Camaro hood badge look great on the car, and all are in fantastic condition as well. Custom billet grill looks AWESOME on the car, and the hood release is clean and easy to reach and actuate compared to the stock units. Tail panel is glossy, clean and shows wonderfully in vivid black. Show polished rocker trim looks beautiful, and really sets of the cars appearance. The car rides on BOSS 338 rims in Super Finish Grey, and they are in excellent condition, with only light signs of use or wear, if any. They are wrapped in Cooper ZEON radial tires all around, with less than 3,000 miles on them, and no damage or issues. Tires are size 245/40R18 in the front, and 275/35R20 in the rear, with the perfect offset to give the car a menacing look. Red painted calipers look great, and are part of the fully upgraded power braking system that includes a new performance brake booster and slotted and drilled rotors. Open the doors, and you will see that the jambs, rockers, and hinge areas are all clean, neat, and painted to match nicely. Rubber weather strip, seals, and trim surrounds are all in very good condition too, with no brittleness or dryness. Doors do not sag or drop, and align and close as they should. Fisher sill plates are in great condition, and are polished for maximum wow! Door panels are solid, clean, and free of any cracks and damage. Door lock pulls work as they should and look great, and the key locks and unlocks the doors from outside with ease. Door handles and window rollers are in great condition, and the windows go up and down with ease because the regulators, fuzzies, and scrapers were replaced when the car was built. Original A/C dash is in very good condition, and top has no cracks or damage evident, and shows very well. Gauge cluster area is clean and neat, and has a complete Dakota Digital VHX analog style instrument system installed, that is fully calibrated and functional. Fully lit needles, backlit faces, and highly visible LCD message centers are a few of the things that you can see which set the VHX Series apart from the traditional approach to instrumentation. A few of the features which you do not normally see are the micro-controlled precision stepper motors, solid state sensors for unparalleled accuracy, and user-customizable display feedback, all supported by an unrivaled limited lifetime warranty which has become the standard for Dakota Digital instrumentation systems. In short, it is just plain awesome. That lifetime warranty helped me out, when the speedo stopped registering about 5 days ago. I pulled it out, called Dakota, and within 48 hours had a brand new that installed in seconds without any cost to me! THAT is what I call service!!!! Factory switches for the headlights and wipers work as they should, and the 12V socket has a functional cigar lighter in place. The two buttons to control the Dakota system were cleanly hidden below the lighter, and are easy to access when driving. Factory heating and air conditioning control panel works like it should, but the black background on the panel is wrinkled a little. Not a big deal, but I want to point it out. Tilt column works as it should, and is topped by a clean and undamaged SS badged steering wheel. Factory radio was swapped in favor of a modern unit with AM/FM/CD/MP3/USB/iPOD/Pandora/SPOTIFY, and thumb drive capability. It is easy to use, comes with the manual, and sounds absolutely killer through the custom speakers located in the car and the trunk mounted panel with subwoofer and amplifier! It gets nice and loud too, but when you hear this car rumble, you know the stereo needed some extra oomph to be heard at cruising speed! Glove box opens and closes like it should, and locks with the key. All A/C vents are functional and undamaged. The center console is clean and undamaged, and the staple-style shifter works perfectly and looks great shifting through the gears too. Lid opens to reveal a storage cubby, and both hinges are intact and working like they should. Carpet is clean, neat, and undamaged, with no seam pulls, stains, damage, or issues. Front floor mats have protected the carpet, and do show light signs of use, but are perfectly suitable. Back seats are in great condition, with no signs of damage or issues, and the kick panels, rear panels, and cargo shelf are all in great condition as well. Front passenger seat is in excellent condition, with no issues or damage, and it moves forward and backward as it should, and the recline function to access the back seat works like it should too. Driver seat is in very good condition, but does show a few light marks on it from the past drivers getting in and out of the car. Nothing horrible, but the little marks are present as shown in the photos, and I want you to be aware of them. Driver seat moves fore and aft like it should, and reclines forward for easy access to the rear. Lap seat belts are installed in the car from the factory, and all of them work. The shoulder harness storage area is intact on the sides of the car near the headliner, but the shoulder harnesses themselves are not included. Headliner is in excellent condition, and does not drop or have slack segments. Dome light works like it should. Visors work perfectly and look perfect too. The trunk of the car has been fully finished for show use, and looks fantastic! Red carpeting covers it wall to wall, including the custom fabricated panel with removable cover that holds the amplifier, wiring, and assorted other stereo extras. Trunk lid, inners, and latch area are clean and rust/rot free. Rubber seal keeps moisture out the trunk completely, and is not dry or damaged. Any part of the trunk that you can see from the inside is clean, solid, and rust free. Looking under the car, and using a dental mirror and light to see over the tank, reveals the whole rear pan to be just as solid, clean, and rust free as the rest of the car is. Trunk also currently houses the original owner manual for the car, and the original dealer brochure. A fire extinguisher is mounted on the right side of the trunk, and is included, but the date has expired on it, so it is for looks only at this point. Pop open the hood pins on the car, and you are met by a clean, neat, and beautiful engine bay that shows wonderfully at shows and events. Everything is either painted, polished, chromed, anodized, or cleaned to perfection, and it looks beautiful from every angle. The 396ci V8 installed in the car is a 1969 model year block, and was built to have the perfect combination of highway friendliness, reliability, and raw power. I did not build the car, nor did I have access to the builder, but from looking at it, driving it, and comparing it to other vehicles over the last 18 years, I would estimate it to have somewhere in the 350-400hp range. It definitely has a cam installed, and has a nice lopey idle that sounds fantastic through the custom 3 inch dual exhaust system. Chrome PS and overflow reservoirs, stainless steel braided lines and hoses, four car polished radiator, chrome timing cover and water pump, polished A/C compressor/alternator/power steering pump, full custom pulley system with guards, MSD box, HEI ig, Holley 650cfm carb on top of an Edelbrock mid-rise Performer intake, Edelbrock Hi-Flow fuel pump, HP performance electronic fan with adjustable fan settings, electric vacuum pump, chrome air cleaner, chrome valve covers, chrome fender braces, dial chrome horns, and so much more full out the engine area. It starts easily, idles cleanly with a nice, mellow lope, and is ready to drive when you are. Power comes on quick and easy, and your right foot can cause the tires to break loose easily, so be prepared! The engine has not leaked, wept, or made a mark on the shop floor or at my house garage, and there is no sign of oil spray or buildup on the outside of the motor either. It runs great, and the massive radiator, hi-flow water pump, and electronic fans work to keep temps about 188 degrees all the time, no matter how hot the Florida sun made it, even with the A/C on. The car has never exhibited any issues like vacuum lock, hard starting cold or warm, or anything else. I have driven it about 145 miles since purchasing the car, and find it to be a blast to drive! In town is where it is happiest, as the Turbo 400 transmission with mild shift kit is connected to a smoothed POSI rear end with 31 spline axles fit with 3.70 gearing, so it is hitting about 2,950 rpm at 70mph. With a lower gearing, the car could be a long-hauler in the 90mph range with ease, but 70-75 is the comfort zone with this current 3.70 set up. Power seems almost ALWAYS on tap when you are cruising in the car, and applying your right foot to the accelerator will bring on judicious amounts of power to overtake a car, or just do hooligan-type stuff. The floor pans on the car are all solid, clean, and show wonderfully from front to back, with no sign of any rot, rust, issues, or damage. It is just finished in chassis black, so you will not want toput mirrors under it at the car show, but it sure does look clean, and we have not even detailed the car professionally! Imagine how good it will look once you do! The exhaust is cleanly installed, looks great, and is tucked up and out of the way to provide more than enough safe clearance when driving. All of the lines, wiring, and hoses are cleanly and carefully routed and concealed as best they could be for appearance and safeties sake. Most are loomed as well. All of the suspension components are less than 3,000 miles old, and and show it, with hardly any signs of use evident. Everything came from VIKING PERFORMANCE, and consists of performance shocks and spring kit out back with anti-roll /sway bar, and all new bushings, hardware, and mounts, while up front got treated to a full custom coil over system in addition to an anti-roll/sway bar, new bushings, hardware, rod ends, and mounts. The end result is a car that feels like it ready to tear up the road course! It handles like a race car, tracks beautifully, and carves into corners with such perfect and pure feedback to the wheel you will think you are driving a Miata, not a V8 powered 70s muscle machine! Ride is firm, yet forgiving, and can be moderately adjusted if you prefer even firmer track feel, or a little softer ride and handling. As is sits now, the car is just a fantastic handling machine, that lets the wheel become an extension of your arms, and does away with all the slop, wallow, and roll these cars were notorious for. It rides like a modern Corvette or Z28, with a stiffness that lets you feel connected to the road, but with enough softness to make boulevard cruising a treat too. All of the suspension and steering parts show to be in very good condition, as the photos will attest, and it is all less than 3,000 miles old. Frame itself is solid, clean, and shows no damage, rust, prior repairs, or issues. This car is one nice street machine, and provides the perfect balance between modern reliability, performance, handling, and classic muscle car looks. It has been safety checked, and is ready for you to fly in and drive home wherever you want to take it.
