Description of 1988 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS |
Kinsler staggered ram tube mechanical injection. Motor is a 1972 427Tall deck bored .030 over. Mechanical lifter cam with comp cams belt drive timing. Ross pistons 14/1 compression. Factory steel crank. Brodix race rite alum heads. Lemons custom headers 2.125 primaries and 3.0 dia stainless exaust pipes. Moroso spiral flow mufflers. Car sounds real healthy. Purchased back in 2008 from a local body shop that purchased car from Georgia. Had some rear quarter fender damage and was repaired and painted factory silver prior to 2008. There is no rust anywhere. Car is immaculate. A real eye catcher. Draws a crowd at car shows. Never ran it down quarter mile but car really pulls hard at 4000 rpm and up. You need to have a good understanding of mechanical fuel injection as there are many adjustments to tune. I believe car is tuned real close for limitedstreet driving. A little rich just cruising around but leans out a bit above 4 grand. I don't believe you could lean it anymore without running too lean at higher rpm's. No choke so you need to squirt it when cold. Once warm car starts without squirting.Again, this is a really fast car but you need to fully understand mechanical injection as there are many tuning adjustmets with jets, pills, barrel valve settings, nozzles, shims, and springs to get it right. Runs on 110 racing fuel. Leaded preferred. You may get away with premium pump gas with a booster but I never tried it. Selling because I don't use it anymore. Working on another project. Car is immaculate clean. Over the top attention getter. Car is a little darty on steering below 45 mph. Fronts and rearsare bias ply. Possibly changing to radials up frontmay help with that. I aligned front tires myself. Maybe more toe out would help also. Power steering pump is for a circle track application. This also may be causing some quick steering at lower speeds. Small oil leak at rear of driver side head gasket. Using cometic head gaskets but fel pro performance composition gaskets would have worked better for sealing oil at the drain backs. Neutral safety switch not hooked up also. This car may not be for you if you do not like to turn a wrench and screwdriver. Far more complex than carburation and electronic injection. This is 100% mechanical. Buyer responsible for all shipping costs. Asking $14900.00 Price reflects some improvements/corrections as stated abovethat should be made. Car is immaculate. No disappointments but car real powerful at 4000 RPMAND UPso it is sold as is. No returns. Car for sale locally also. |
