Description of 1955 Chevrolet Other Pickups |
Clean, straight, original 1955 Chevrolet 31001/2 ton with 1959 Napco four wheel drive conversion. The truck was two wheel drive when I bought it from a gentleman in South Carolina who had the truck for 50 years. It is original and unmolested. The dash has the radio delete plate and buttons that look like they've never been removed. The doors have the original button head bolts that look like they have never been removed. The truck had a tired 235 straight 6 in it when I bought it. Omar Lugo at Lugo Parts and Restoration in Loomis California (lugoparts)did the work on the truck. We installed a Goodwrench Universal 350 using the original front motor mounts the way a 265 small block would have been installed at the factory in 1955. Nothing was cut to install the engine. The 1959 Napco running gear and four speed transmission was gone through. The 59 Napco front axle uses stock 55-59 Chevrolet truck front brakes, front and rear brakes rebuilt. Original wiring. Lights and turn signals working. Heater works. All good glass. Both doors lock with keys. Two small bubbles in paint on lower passenger door, no other rust on the truck. Driver side windshield wiper needs correct regulator arm, the wiper goes halfway through sweep. The interior has been painted tan with white dash. Gas tank removed from cab and tank installed between frame rails behind rear axle, fills through cap in bed. All aftermarket parts are bolt in. Nothing was was modified from stock other than bolt holes in the frame to install the gas tank, brake booster and transfer case. 2,000 miles on it since rebuild. The truck is in Olympic Valley, CA, 96146, home of the Squaw Valley USA ski area. I drove it in 4 low last winter through three feet of new snow. This truck does not get stuck. I used the four wheel drive for driving in the snow, the truck has not been abused off road. These trucks are under powered for modern driving with a 235 straight six. With the new 350 small block, gas tank out of the cab, power brakes and shoulder strap seat belts the truck is safe and enjoyable to drive anywhere. With the 3.90 gears and 33 inch tires the truck cruises at 60 MPH at 2400 RPM. I have two other trucks, a 57 GMC Napco panel and a 56 panel. I’d keep this truck, don’t have room for all three. Clean California title in hand. Truck is registered and insured. Will assist in shipping on my end. The parking lot at Squaw is 80 acres, easy load for shipper. We are nine miles south of I 80 at Truckee.
