Description of 1965 Chevrolet Corvette |
Early production vehicle. Only 3.27% of the Corvettes produced in 1965 were equipped with the L84 factory fuel injection engine and maybe half that number were Roadsters. VIN 194675S100943. Disc brake delete car. Same owner for over 30 years.
While the build sheet for this vehicle is no longer available, all the hallmarks and correct casting and stamping numbers, as well as all the correct date codes are evidenced in linked photos. Noland Adams, the renowned Corvette historian, mentions this Corvette in his definitive work : The Complete Corvette Restoration and Technical Guide, Vol. 2: 1963 -1967 published in 1988 and it is also mentioned in an article in the Corvette Restorer, Volume 4 Number 4, written by Gene Dressen covering Fuel Injection units. The body was removed to facilitate a complete mechanical restoration, it and the upholstery are in excellent original and unmolested condition, except for one small 1.5"crack in the right front wheel opening. The engine and chassis were disassembled for a mechanical restoration, which has been partially completed. The chassis, front and rear suspension and brakes are rebuilt. The engine builder passed away while the engine was apart and consequently, most of the engine internal parts and one cylinder head were ultimately lost. Fortunately, the missing parts are all available. When completed this L84 Corvette will be a most excellent addition to any collection.
