Description of 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 210 |
Selling my 57 210 Post sedan . Get comfy because i am going to ramble on and tell you everything about it . I hate getting " Suprises " when i buy stuff and i will make sure my buyers dont get any . I will make this car sound like complete garbage before i mislead someone on it . O, what you are looking at is obviousl, the most known car ever buil, the 1957 chevrolet . This is a 210 mode, 2 door sedan . I bought this car back in february with plans to build i, ive changed direction and decided to put time into one of my many other project, Im going to focus more on my 31 model A coupe and i am not the type of guy to sit and watch a car rot to the ground until i have time so im going to let it go . First of, the car has a clean and clea, current illinois title in my name . No hokey stuff here. The car looks to have had some money thrown at it at one time and has spent its last years being abused and neglected. I consider this car a projec, the absolute deifinition of a " 20 footer " I take a decent picture but do not let them fool yo, this car is going to need work . The Bad stuff , entire front sheet metal needs adjuste, Previous owner was a young ki, he took it down the road with out the hood latche, hood has some wrinkles at the back where it sprung up and exploded the old hinge, some dents in the raised portions of the hood where they smacked the roof . I put new hood hinges on it tho . The car had new rockers put on it at one time but the mounting tabs for the lower dog legs of the front fenders were cut off for some unknown reaso, fenders need pulled and new mounting points need to be fabricate, they are loose at the dog legs and rattle horribly with the lope of the cam . The car had lower quarter patches done at one time . Not horribly done but there is some mud in it . The floor pans were patched over the old ones so im sure a floor pan will be in this cars future " the days of finding these cars with a decent floor pan anymore are almost gone anyways , the long rear brace in the car is SHO, and two of the frame mounts that hold the braces are sho, they have dropped and allowed the floor to sit on the fram, IT could be fixed by cutting some old mounts off another frame and welding them on . The interior was recovered at one time and then tore u, headliner is o, missing a sunviso, No heate, no radi, no glovebo, the temp gauge quit working last wee, The pass side seat is held in with one bolt and the driver side has 2, trunk lid rattle, trunk floor looks usable but has some cracks and fiberglass at the edges that will need fixe, pass side quarter glass is cracke, new driver door glass in trun, not installe, pass door glass is off the track and previous owner put wood shims between it and the garnish molding to hold window in place . It looks like Ray Charles routed the wiring under the hood and did all the detail work inside the car as well . You can walk around this car and pick out paint chip, ding, scratches and all kinds of imperfections . The pass side rear wheel is the only wheel on the car that is a unilug . rest are chevy patter, they required a 1/2 shank style lug nu, they got 3/4 inch shank lug nuts that someone cut shorter with a cutoff wheel . Front tires lean in at the top i think more than they shoul, could be ball joint, not hubs or bearings because i did replace those .The fuel gauge i think has a bad groun, it works but sometimes jumps around and then starts working again, Needs the stainless for around the front window . the stainless trim has dings in it as wel, especially on the pass side quarter .In Shor, the paint job is bea, it has scratche, ding, a few small dent, hood is wrinkle, has some bond, its a PROJECT. Now the good stuff... The little engine runs good and has a good lope to i, the close ration muncie shifts grea, no popping out of gea, It has a Hurst Competition 4 speed short throw shifter with reverse lockou, Tires are like ne, All lights work with the exception of the dome ligh, Carries good oil pressur, has a couple small oil leak, Someone at one time completely updated the wiring harness with an American Autowire harness . Brakes are still stock drums with a stock single pot master cy, but they stop the car nicely and stop it straight . I drive the car around out here in the country all the tim, Running 5 mile trips down the road to my folks and my brothers house and bac, Car runs and drives up and down the road just fine if you can handle the noise from the squeeking front fender, Front hubs were toast when i bought the car so i grabbed a set of 66 impala hubs and updated it to taper bearings instead of the old expensive ball bearings . Rear end is an open diff with no noises . Has a new fuel tank in it as well . Turn signals wor, brake lights all wor, headlights all wor, Vacuum wipers wor, and it will light a one tire fire clear through third gear . Also has a 58 impala steering wheel in it that i had laying around . New windshiel, I have the front bumper and splash pan, there is no grill or grill bar.In closing as i state, its a running driving projec, thats the best way to describe it . I bought the car in feb and have done absolutely nothing to it with the exception of swapping out the steering wheel and upgrading the front hub, ohh and driving it all over the place out here in the country . Im going to start the car at what i consider to be a fair price for this car considering what i paid for my 55 in not near as good of shape as this car with alot less stuff . Take a cruise through craigslist and look at what people are asking for a completely rusted out shell with no drive train and no title . The car is located here in shelbyville IL 62565 . I never accept paypal on automotive sales " They charge to much " . I will accept bank checks or cash upon pickup or Bank to Bank transfers . If sending a chec, please allow up to 7 days for the check to clear my ban, All checks will be cleared by my bank before this car leaves the property . If you would like the car shippe, i can load it for the shipper and i can help you in finding a quality transporte, I know a couple guys that do it for a living . Must be paid in full within 7 days of auction en, Car can sit here in my barn for as long as you need for fre, but it must be paid for within 7 days . |
