Description of 1994 Chevrolet Caprice Caprice Classic |
You are viewing what may be the lowest mileage 1994 Chevrolet Caprice 9C1 Police Package car left in the world. The LT1 Caprices (and their sister car, the Impala SS) took the world by storm in 1994. It had been nearly 25 years since there had been a police vehicle that would run in the 130+ mph range and these cars not only would do that, they would exceed that...by a wide margin. When tuned correctly, these cars are capable of 150+ mph with no mechanical modifications, whatsoever. Even box stock they would run at 130+ (only due to the computer-limited speed cutoff) and get there very quickly...all the while, handling better than any of their predecessors. This example is a survivor. It was purchased brand-new by a small college in Michigan for use by their criminal justice training center. Before anyone asks...NO, this car was not used for driver training, EVOC, or any type of defensive driving maneuvers. The only thing it was used for was to perform "mock" traffic stops. Basically, training cadets to perform vehicle stops and approaches (those of you with a law-enforcement background will understand). It was also used occasionally by staff to run errands and attend meetings, etc. It was not "garage kept and waxed every other week", nor was it put up on blocks in a climate-controlled garage. It was, however, maintained and used very little. It has not seen exposure to tons of salt, or winter driving, as it wasn't on the road all of the time. It does have some minor corrosion, but it appears very solid. The 1/4 panels are immaculate (one of the first places to go on these cars), as are the trunk extensions, wheelhouses in the trunk area and trunk floor. The floors all appear nice and solid as well. There is one small spot of rust at the lower B-pillar, but it is very minor and, if repaired, will pose no further issues (it is very tiny). There are some surface spots on the front wheelhouses (on top) that need to be cleaned and touched up but, again, very minor. It has a few minor, cosmetic flaws on the exterior, as you can see in the pictures...again, it is not new. To date, this car has only 14,092 actual, documented mileson it. This mileage is GUARANTEED to be true, actual, and correct. This unit was NEVER used for regular police use. This is an excellent example of a very rare and very hard to find car that is not perfect, but very nice and, most importantly, never abused. If you have been waiting for an original, unmolested example of the most iconic police car of it's time...this is it. It is, absolutely one of the nicest I have seen in many years. This is one for the discerning collector or enthusiast. It is not "flawless" but, short of having purchased one brand-new, you will never find one with this low of mileage anywhere. If you have been waiting, don't wait any longer...this is, likely, the lowest mileage example in existence...they do not get any "less used", or more original, than this. This unit is loaded with nearly every available option, including the "LT1" 5.7 liter, 350 cubic-inch V8, 3.08 Posi-Traction (limited-slip) rear axle (code G80), cloth power driver's front bucket seating and matching, vinyl rear seat, rubber flooring, driver and passenger side factory-installed Unity 6" spotlights, driver and passenger front airbags, factory AM/FM stereo, power windows, power trunk release and power locks. These items, of course, are just the beginning of the list of equipment on this car. In my years of buying and selling police vehicles, I have had very few cars that come close to this in terms of mileage and increasing rarity. The trunk compartment is clean, and an original-type Good Year Eagle GT+4, full-size spare tire is in place. The factory manuals are in place, in the glove box. It recently had a new water pump and Opti-Spark distributor installed, just prior to being sold by the original owner. This unit is also equipped with, of course, the full 9C1 police package which includes the optional 5.7-liter V8 engine, 4-speed overdrive heavy-duty transmission, 3.08 ratio heavy-duty rear "Posi-Traction" differential, 225-70-15 Cooper Cobra high-performance radials mounted on the factory, heavy-duty, 15" vented police wheels with the original "police" bolt-on center caps, stainless-steel, true dual exhaust, police-spec 4-wheel disc brakes, severe-duty suspension, heavy-duty cooling, certified speedometer, special police oil pressure gauge, and much, much more. Caprices like this one are becoming nearly extinct, so here's your opportunity if you've been looking for one of the nicest ones you will ever find, with absurdlylow mileage. This unit is in very good condition inside and out and is very clean under the hood as well...the engine compartment is nice and unmolested (please see the pictures). I do not slather motors with Armor All to make them appear nicer, or newer, than they are. The picture of this engine compartment is exactly as it was when the car was purchased. These are the Caprices aficionados lust after, and this is an unmolested example. It is very responsive, smooth-shifting and, of course, very fast. It is in, overall, very good condition, has been very well-maintained and has little of the normal wear and tear you would expect to find on a used police package vehicle. It has had an exterior light bar installed, but never any markings or decals. This vehicle, as most used vehicles do, will have imperfections...this typically includes; minor scratches, holes from equipment mounting, chips, nicks, dings, scrapes, small dents, etc...that being said, this car has no known mechanical defects other than an ABS light that stays on, an airbag light that comes on occasionally, and the A/C does not blow as cold as I believe it should...it seems to work fine and is cool, but not "ice cold". It runs and drives excellent. Please, keep in mind, we strive to find the nicest used vehicles possible, but they are still used vehicles. This is a very nice driving, tight unit...not a beat-up police car. It is as close to driving a brand-new car as you will ever experience. It has never been used for any type of police or patrol work, only for training performing "mock" traffic stops. Please complete all inspections BEFORE bidding...if you win the auction, you own the vehicle. If you would like to come and see it we always urge that. You will not be disappointed. If there are any questions at all, please call us any time at 614-893-3857. I do reserve the right to end the auction early if the vehicle sells locally prior to the end of auction(please call if you like). I am a law-enforcement officer as well and, as such, work long hours so you are free to call me as late in the evening as you like. I can be reached anytime at (614) 893-3857. I will take calls 24/7 up until the end of the auction. |
