Description of 1991 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

Up for auction is a collector quality 1991 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Convertible. 1991 marked the return of the infamous Z28 moniker to the Camaro lineup. While very similar to it's predecessor, the IROCZ, the 1991 Z28 was more refined. The car still retained the timeless and classic lines of the Gen3 cars but added updated ground effects and lost the boy racer graphics and hood. About the only error made in 1991 were the redesigned wheels, but as you can see in the pictures here, the collectors who have been the stewards of this car thought better to fit her with the classic IROC wheels.

This Ultra Blue Z28 has clocked a mere 6200 miles in it's 26 year life and absolutely looks, feels, drives, and smells like it did as when it rolled off the showroom floor. Everything on the car is original and correct. The car is backed by 100% clean Carfax. Of the 100,838 Camaros built in 1991 only 3,203 were Z28 convertibles. Only 15% were painted the rare Ultra Blue, and only 10% were 5 speed manual transmission cars which makes this maybe 1 of a handful of cars and probably one of the lowest mileexamples in existence.

This is a 4 owner car with documentation back to the original owner, along with the window sticker and various receipts for maintenance over the years. All the books and manuals are in place and as new.The car was built in California at the Van Nuys plant, and shipped to Minnesota. From there it went to collectors in Arizona, Arkansas, and Tennessee, before beingbroughtback to where it started in Southern California.

The car is equipped with Preferred Equipment Group 3 which consists of

  • Air Conditioning
  • AM/FM Stereo cassette
  • Power windows
  • Power drivers seat
  • Power door locks
  • Cruise
  • Twin remote sport mirrors
  • Body side moldings
  • Color keyed floor mats
  • Gray leather interior. (This is a full leather interior, manufactured before the auto companies started substituting vinyl ion hi wear surfaces.)

The only changes to the car have been the addition of a correct 1991 Delco AM/FM CD player and the IROC wheels with Michelin tires. The original wheels and tires, as well as the original radio, are included in the sale.

If you are looking at this car, you know that the Gen3 Camaros are the hot collector cars today, outpacing even similar conditioned Corvettes. And if you know cars, then you can remember when Gen2 Camaros and Trans Ams were affordable in this condition, don't wait until this is a $50K car to say, I should have bought one. Cars like this only come along once in a great while and they are only original once.

The car has a fair reserve set as the car is for sale here, not for show and tell.

My passion is cars, I have been an avid car hobbyist for almost 40 years. I grew up in the 80s and cut my teeth on 60s and 70s muscle while always lusting for the new metal coming out of Motown. I know these cars well and I will miss this one. My true joy, though, is in the thrill of the chase. I have a select list of cars I look for and search the country to find them. I know it will be years until I find aZ28 convertible as nice as this car. Buy with confidence, fly into sunny San Diego, spend the weekend and drive her home.... anywhere. I will also assist in arranging competent transportation.

I will entertain original muscle cars and Corvettes as partial trades. No projects, no junk.
