Description of 1946 Chevrolet Other Pickups some |
1946 Chevrolet half ton pick up truck with original paint on the cab. This is an eye-catching unique truck that spans the gaps between being antique, a rat rod or a hot rod. The vehicle is appealing to all, the young kids thinks it is from the movie CARs and the older people just want to sit in it and take a step back in time. As for me, it is the vehicle I take to shows, use it for garage sale shopping, getting a load of hay and pumpkins, hauling my mountain bike and even driving to work (it looks great in the executive garage I park in). I get countless honks, thumbs ups, waves, smiles and comments. Its just fun. Selling as I have 5 vehicles now and I just need to concentrate on what other projects I have. As for the truck, the cab was found in a barn in Wisconsin and I paid someone there to place the cool cab on an S-10 chassis (chopped it a little low). We located a small block 350 and 700R4 trans for the powertrain. The carb is a new Holley 680 and I did upgrade to electronic ignition with a new distributer too. All works fine and with the 3.73 gearing she moves well and gets about 20mpg on weekend cruising. The truck stops with disc in the front and drums in the rear. Three years ago, I had the floor replaced, added power steering, new 1953 steering wheel, tilt and telescoping steering, relocated the gas tank to under the bed and then relocated the battery (have a remote jump block for easy winter trickle charger hook up. Alternator is also new as of 2016. Last year I replaced the radio and added an amp and sub which reside under the seat. Interior is also dyno mat covered. Truck rolls on 22 inch rims which have some pitting in the chrome but not anyone has yet noticed those imperfections. Rubber is good. Exhaust is a true duel and both sides exit just before the rear wheels. Seat is pretty good. It came from a 1941 Chevrolet fire truck and looks great. Options: - Red LED Lights underneath the body, bed and in the front grill. - New audio system. Alpine head with inputs for your phones audio system, an amp and a 10 inch sub - Tilt and telescoping steering column for good personal adjustment - Power steering and brakes. Not Indy car tight but it works well - A usable bed. Bed has folding flat tie down eyelets for securing your load - Small block 350CI with 4 speed OD trans - NO OLD CAR ODORs. - Lokar shifter and cable - Dolphin gages are new and all work. Gas gage could use a resister to show more movement. - Electric cooling fan - Duel horns from a Jeep Patriot Extras: - I have a yet to be installed heater (period correct as I have been told) that I will also supply - I replaced the top grill with a better looking one with nice chrome and no small dents. I can send a picture if this is important - I have another set of Kenwood duel speakers I can also put into the deal if wanted. Still in box -A car you never have to wash or wax. Or at least I have not in the 6 years I have owned it The next steps: - Rebuild the door mechanisms. They could roll better and getting new glass in would be good as there are cracks on both side windows. I do not drive with windows up so this has not been an issue - Add the heater as it needs to be checked for leaks first - Clear coat the cabs Patina finish - Drive it more Trying to be honest here. I do not think I have knowing left anything out so ask questions if you have any.Starting priceis honest as I will take a loss on this number but it is time to pass this fun truck to someone else. No warranty and you will be required to arrange your own shipping. Truck sits low so remember that in arranging transport. NO AIR BAGS to help lift it up. $500 deposit and then a cashiers check that I will cash personally (I will ensure it cashes) prior to me FEX EX-ing the clear title to you. |
