Here we have a 69 Camaro built the first week of July 1969 in Norwood, Ohio. This car originally came from the factory as an X11 Camaro with a V8 in Dover white exterior paint with blue interior (see the original trim tag indicating the X11 which is included with the sale). X11 means it was not originally an SS396 or Z28 from the factory. In 2005, my father and I began a body off restoration to create a X22 Camaro SS396 375HP L78 CLONE in the same color scheme. A 2nd trim tag was acquired to depict the added options to the recreation using the X22 and D80 codes (see 2nd trim tag). X22 indicates that SS396 and D80 indicates the front and real spoilers (both options were added to the car). No expense was spared creating this Super Sport CLONE to be just like the original L78 car. The engine is a real 396/375 horse 4 bolt main L78 big block dated late 1968. The car shifts, drives and sounds just like a real L78 Super Sport. We have put less than 500 miles on the car after restoration. Imagine cruising around town and to car shows in a 1969 396 big block Camaro for a third of the price of what a real 396/375 L78 Camaro brings today. My reserve is set low because this is not a real 396/375 L78 car from the factory. I will be lucky to break even on this car but must sell dueto the death of my father. All the improvements to this car are too long to list in this auction but here are some of the parts purchased to create the drive train.* 4 Bolt Main 396/375 Engine Block casting number 3955272 dated K10 8* Rectangular Port Heads casting number 3964291 dated K 288 (NOS in GM box when purchased* GM valves #3969815* "6223" forged GM crank* GM dimpled rods with 11:1 doomed pistons* GM Oil Pump #10051105* "Snowflake" GM aluminum intake with casting number 3933163* Correct rebuilt 780 CFM 4346 Holley #3959164* Correct AC Delco fuel pump for 396/375 #8A40727* Solid camshaft by Comp Cams #11-551-5 with gross valve lift of .575/.604 and 242/250 duration @.050 with Comp Cams #813-16 lifters* GM push rods #10134304* Correct GM bellhousing #3899621* Rebuilt Muncie M21#3925660 with Tail shaft housing #3857584 and side cover #3950306 with metal tag #3946798 (RPO M21) with correct Hurst shifter and all correct linkage and mounting hardware purchased through Heartbeat City*Correct distributor #1111499 dated 9 D24 (rebuilt by Jerry MacNeish to stock specs in 2008)* Alternator #1100837 with deep groove pulley* GM starter #1108418 (rebuilt)* Exhaust manifolds #3916178 (RH) and #3909879 (LH)* GM water pump #3931065T dated Feb 69* GM harmonic damper #3860010* GM fan #3947772 dated K68 with fan pulley #3947824BV* Factory correct reproduction exhaust system* Rebuilt GM 12 Bolt POSI rear end with 3.73 gears GM #3969341NF dated June 18, 1970Engine was professionally rebuilt by The Performance Shop in Newark OhioBody was stripped and repainted in Dover white GM code 50.
