I bought this Super Sport from a family that had parked it inside a concrete floor garage in 1989. Here is what I know from the trim tag 1966 Chevy Chevelle SS 396 it is a marina blue black vinyl top with black bucket seat console interior. It came with deluxe seat belts and a rear antenna also rear speaker. Came with a M20 4speed. Built in the last week of June 1966. Break it down yourself and make sure I have this right. Car has 12 bolt posi rear end feels low geared when driving might be a 3. 36 or 3. 55. It has a borg warner super T10 with 3 rings on the input shaft. I believe the Engine is tired from sitting 25 years its a 1971 402 . This car is very solid it has great floors. he quarter panels still have 138 stamped into them. Looks like original sheet metal to me with one repaint. I believe the vinyl top is original and the interior is also. It shows wear and tear but its almost 50 years old. I see a rust hole in the panel below the windshield see pic. The trunk floor was covered in surface rust and pits I cleaned it with a wire brush then coated it with rust convertor. then sealed it and put alitte splatter paint I had left. The trunk floor is pitted and had a few pin holes I sealed up. If a frame off was going to be done im sure you would put a pan in but its great for a driver. I have pictures of the underneath I didn't try to clean it up you can still see the cob webs lol. It has surface rust and grime but is solid and the frame is good shape for its age. Here is what ive done to the car Replaced 8 rear control arm bushings changed the rear end oil and added posi additive also installed new rear shocks. Installed a new clutch set including pilot bearing fresh oil in transmission and rear seal. Installed a new 3 row aluminum radiator new hoses changed the oil and filter and new spark plugs. Pulled the gas tank cleaned it out replaced fuel hoses. New master cylinder new wheel cylinders on all wheels. New shoes front and rear new rubber brake lines. Ive driven this car at 60 mph and the rear end and transmission sound good. It had a Holley carb on it when I got it but it needs gone through from setting so long. I installed a Qjet carb I had and it runs well but doesn't like to idle. This is a very solid SS that is not full of patch panels which is hard to find. Selling AS/IS where is! On Feb-01-15 at 13:10:41 PST. seller added the following information:http://youtu. be/fAI3c9w9kyYI posted a video of the engine running if the link doesn't work look up 1966 chevelle ss ebay. I put the holley carb back on the car it idles well with it and runs ok but it does run too rich. you can smell fuel out the pipes. The qjet carb didn't do that but it would not idle. You get both carbs. You can hear the cam hit with the holley carb.
