Description of 1987 Chevrolet Monte Carlo MONTE CARLO SS |
For Sale: 1987 Monte Carlo SS - Fresh 350 Engine, TH200-4R, Cowl Hood, Black with T-Tops Located in: Pottstown, PA. Why I am selling: I've been the owner of this car for the past 17 years (3rd owner). I purchased the car in 2000, and am selling because I don't get the time to enjoy it and want someone to take it to the next level. I've had a few offers already without advertising and I want to see what the market is willing to offer. It is a true SS. What it Has: Power Plant: Fliteline GM 350 Crate Engine (bored 40 over) with Vortec Heads, Edelbrock Intake Manifold with 750 cfm 4 barrel carburetor with electric choke. Installed in 2009, less than 10,000 miles since the engine swap. The chassis has 130k miles. Oil changed each inspection year (average of about only 1,200 miles per year since the engine swap). Summit mini-starter. The engine bay is hidden away beneath a 2.5" cowl hood which gives the car a nice look. Transmission: TH200-4R 4 speed automatic transmission rebuilt for greater torque and racing performance by B&L Transmissions in New Jersey. 4.10 rear chirps the tires from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd gear! The transmission was installed new with the engine. Exhaust: Hedman Hedders, G-Force Custom Cross Member for a true dual, hi-flow crossfire Flow Master Exhaust. Since the car is tagged a classic, emissions testing is exempt. This car sounds awesome at idle! Tires / Wheels / Brakes: 15" American Racing Aluminum Wheels w/ Custom SS Center Caps. B. F. Goodrich 235/65R15, 95% Tread, Brakes & Rotors are 100%. Tags / Inspection: Fresh inspection good through July 2018. Car is tagged as a classic: Insurance cost is only $100 annually. American Collectors Insurance Company values the car at $8500.00. I am willing to transfer the plates. EXTERIOR: New Paint was sprayed in 2004, however there are several superficial areas that need attention and a future owner will likely want to repaint in the next few years and touch up the body work in a few places. T-Tops do not leak and are in good shape, but all weather moldings are original. The car is unique in that it has a power telescoping antenna on the passenger rear panel (by the spoiler) which gives the frontend a cleaner look. IROC springs provide for a slightly lower than stock profile. INTERIOR: Burgundy Interior is original and needs refreshing (faded in places/has cigarette burn in front seat). The windows and door locks are power and operational, the driver side window motor was replaced in 2016. AC needs recharging with refrigerant. Pioneer Head unit with USB/MP3/Line-In adaptability. What the car needs: The speedometer gear ratio was never updated (for the 4.10 rear) and needs to be adjusted. The cigarette lighter needs to be replaced (I charge my phone through the head unit), and the carb needs to be tuned to get the maximum performance. A new wiper motor was installed in 2016, but the driver side wiper arm needs an adjustment (a lazy fix that I have not addressed, as I do not drive this car in the rain). Asking Price: I have receipts and documentation over the past 17 years to provide to the potential owner to prove all of the above statements and product information. I've received offers off the cuff just for the engine and trans alone. This car's power plant should make it a quick sale for a mechanically inclined Chevy hobbyist and I am asking $8700 or best offer received before the winter season puts it in my garage for another year. The car comes with a custom cover and all the spare parts I can find. |
