The Legendary 1969 COPO Camaro is known as one of the rarest muscle cars ever built and as an incredible investment. COPO stands for Central Office Production Order. This was to provide your Camaro with Super Power. This gave a Camaro 425hp, in a 427-cu inch motor. This COPO designation means a "limited run" of special non-standard vehicles. There were three different kinds of COPO Camaros. Order #9560 and #9561 were very close to the same cars, COPO #9561 got the iron engine block. The third COPO #9737, was the called "Sports Car Conversion" with either engine available, a 140-mph speedo, and 15 X 7 Rally wheels. Due to the highly modified nature of these amazing cars, many of them were destroyed or "beaten to death." Thankfully one of the best examples and highest scoring restorations of a COPO is available at Lupo motors to add to your collection. This is a very well documented example of a 1969 COPO Camaro. It retains an original L72 427 engine, 512 block, original code BE rear end, and shows 95,047 original miles - having done ONLY 26 miles since restoration. It was restored to "Concours quality" by Custom Classics and authenticated by world-renowned Camaro expert Jerry MacNeish. This car was discovered in rough shape in a barn in Wisconsin. This car was exhumed and brought to Custom Classics to begin an extensive 3-year restoration. Once the car arrived at Custom Classics Camaro, expert Jerry MacNeish was hired and flown out to authenticate the car. Jerry MacNeish has been a part of all the national Camaro organizations including the United State Camaro Club, the International Camaro Club, and American Camaro Association (with the position of Certification Concours Master Judge), Diamond Judge, and freelance writer. He is also involved with the prestigious ICC Red White & Blue Certification, and "Legend Certification" (the two most extensive Camaro judging programs in the world). Jerry certified that this was a true COPO, gave advice, and was involved in sourcing parts during the 3 year restoration. After the car was completed Jerry was hired to inspect the final product (paperwork available, upon request). This car has won 3 Nationals and scored Gold class 991/1000 in two events. This is one of the highest scores ever for a COPO Camaro. This car, as you can imagine, was finished perfectly with LeMans blue paint and perfectly correct interior. The transmission was redone by Advantage transmission and as many of the original parts were saved and restored. The documentation with this car is incredibly extensive. All restoration photos, inspection documents, awards, pictures of all numbers, Jerry MacNeish Certification are available. Jerry said this in one of the "cleanest, real deal, and finest restored COPOs" he has ever inspected.
