Fresh out of storage and still wearing its original license plates, is the cool little 1961 Corvair Ramp-side Pickup. Right after we acquired this wonderful rampy, we ran a compression check. 165 PSI on all 6 cylinders Then we flushed the gas tank, added new gas, rebuilt the carburetors, put in new points, condenser, spark plugs etc and she started right up and purred. So very smooth. We checked the transmission fluid ( its an original -Automatic) and since the brakes pumped up, we drove it our of the shop and around the block a time or two. Shifted smooth as silk. You should have seen all the "Thumbs Up" !! The engine felt stronger than I remember the 80 HP engines, so I checked the engine serial number. It reads TI 228 RD, so that means at sometime in the past the original owner put in a 65-66 110 HP engine. It has some bumps and bruises, but hey its a 1961. Restore it or drive it as your not so Ratty, Rat Rod Rampy!
