Actual 1964 Corvette convertible that has been restored to replicate the Grand Sport Roadster that was owned and raced by Roger Penske and George Wintersteen from 1963-1966. The car has been completely rebuilt frame off with all new suspension parts including bushings, bearings, shocks, rear spring, ball joints, tie rod ends, and brakes. The engine is a 406 ci small block with aluminum heads. Carburetion is a rare 4 Dellorto two barrel small block setup that looks great and allows the engine to also sound fabulous! The transmission is the original Muncie 4 speed with Hurst shifter and the rear end is the original rebuilt with 4.11 gears. Ignition is MSD with the box mounted under dash for cleaner appearance. Headers and side exhaust are ceramic coated. All accessories such as alternator, valve covers, and power steering pump are polished aluminum. The tires and wheels are period correct with the tires being Goodyear Blue Streak racing and the wheels being American vintage 1st edition. The underside was completely stripped and painted with PPG gloss and the Grand Sport body panels were molded by the same fiberglass shopthat produced the body panels for D&D Grand Sport Corvette replica kits. The exterior appearance of the paint and body is show quality and the interior is nicely done with late model high back racing buckets that will accommodate a 5 point harness if desired for auto crossing. Currently the car has period correct racing lap belts. The windshield is the original 1964 Corvette and the rear deck panel is original so that an original convertible top could be easily added. The car has been driven only 360 miles since completion to car shows, never raced. The car is ready to drive and enjoy, show, or vintage race. The engine feels very strong and would compete nicely in vintage competition, but also is very streetable. Please call or email for more info. Greg 618-218-2439 or kcphcy @yahoo.com.
