Description of 1981 Chevrolet Other Pickups

Please note: I will need a $250 deposit received within 24 hours of the close of the auction. Please consider this carefully before placing a bid. I bought this little pickup truck about three years ago with the intention of fixing it up and having a really nice. almost like new pickup truck that would be my daily driver and get INCREDIBLE MILEAGE! It would be everything I wanted in a little pickup truck. a 4 cylinder diesel engine with a 5 speed manual transmission in a nice and straight little pickup truck. with custom wheels. etc. . but unfortunately I have to sell it because I have bills to pay and need the money. I started by searching for literally weeks to find the parts I needed to rebuild the engine. Then it took me weeks longer to have it rebuilt! After many hours on the phone and many more on the internet I found what I think might have been the last . 40 over pistons in existence for these engines! I had them shipped in from overseas. then I found some of the bearings and rods from a place in the Midwest. and a gasket kit from back east. nbsp;etc. I literally bought the parts I needed from all over the world! If you have ever tried to do a COMPLETE rebuild on one of these engines then you know that it is really difficult to find ALL of the parts to do it. As far as I know I have the only . 40 over engine that has been bored out with new pistons. rods. bearings. valves etc. It is a complete rebuild. not just honed out with some new rings put in. It is complete and ready; everything you need is in the parts boxes that come with it to put it back in the truck such as starter. injection pump. water pump. etc. As you can see in the photos I left the head off of the engine and took photos of the cylinder walls. so you can see the cross hatching on the cylinder the tops of the pistons. and the valves on the head so you can see everything has been rebuilt or replaced and is like new. The 5 speed transmission. as you can also see in the photos. comes with a VERY difficult to find rebuild kit too. It doesn't really need it. but when you shift from first to second it does not go into gear quite as smoothly as it does in the other gears. so I figured since I was going to rebuild the engine I may as well rebuild the transmission too. So off I went to get a kit to rebuild that also. and it also took me weeks to find! It turns out that the kits to rebuild the transmissions are not that easy to find either. You can find the partial rebuild kits. but a complete rebuild kit is more difficult to find. This kit is the more complete kit with new synchros. bearings. etc. . and other parts the others don't have! I never got the time to put the kit in the transmission. but as you can see in the photos. it is new and is included with the truck when you buy it and is ready to put in the transmission. As you can also see in the photos. everything has been neatly organized in boxes and all of the bolts. nuts. etc. . have been labeled for easy identification. I can’t stand it when you buy someone else’s project. and they hand you a pile of unlabeled nuts. bolts. and other parts. I wanted to make sure I put it back together correctly so I labelled all of the hardware etc. when I thought it might be a problem to figure out what it would be used for or its location later. I am even including a repair manual so you can follow the proper procedure to put the truck back together right! Now for the body of the truck: Another reason I bought this truck was because the body is very straight. I tried to get some photos of a few of the very minor dings and spots of light surface rust on the truck. but because it is white and the dings and rust are very minor I had a difficult time getting them to show up in photos. The body is not perfect. but it is really nice. especially for a truck this age. As you can see. the floor boards are also very nice and still have the undercoating on them with only very light surface rust in places. The bed is also really nice. It does have a few dings on the wheel wells. as you can see in the photos. but they must not have hauled much in it because it is really straight in the rest of the bed with no dents. or any rust in the corners of the wheel wells where they often rust out. I did drive it before I took the engine out and the power brakes and power steering worked well. Other than the engine that smoked and needed to be rebuilt. it was a very solid little truck. When I looked at the rotors and pads on the front. they looked like they had been recently replaced and have very little wear on them. The glass is all good on it except for a rock chip on the windshield as you can see in the photo. It is on the drivers side below the field of vision so you don't really notice it much. If I was planning on keeping the truck I would just leave the windshield as is and not worry about it. I believe all of the trim pieces. sun visors. etc. . are in boxes with the other parts. You may need to buy a rear view mirror. which I think is missing. When I bought the truck. someone had already started to work on the interior. and it needs a new headliner. The custom chrome wheels do have some rust on them in places. but as you can see they shine up nicely and look pretty good. It also comes with a very rare and very handy double door. extra tall insulated canopy. It could use some new paneling inside. but it seems to be solid and is really handy with its extra height and double doors in the back. Both side windows also slide open and shut. The Kenwood stereo also sounds really nice. although the unit is a little loose in the dash and should probably be secured a little better. Well. that's about it. If you know anything about these little Isuzu diesel 223 engines than you know that they get great mileage and last forever (I have a friend who says he gets close to 50 mpg on his little 2 wheel drive diesel like this one). I understand they are so heavy-duty that they use to use them in many of the commercial refrigeration units in the big semi-trucks so I guess you could consider them a commercial engine. You may also know that basically the only difference between the Chevy luv trucks and the Isuzu trucks is the emblems. the body parts are all the same. If taken care of these little trucks can go many hundreds of thousands of miles without needing a rebuild. All of the parts that were in this truck when it was drivable are included. all you have to do is put it back together with the rebuilt engine and transmission and you’re good to go. When you get this truck together you will probably have a very rare truck. I have seen quite a few of these trucks both locally and on e-Bay. but have never seen one for sale with a new engine! In fact. most have hundreds of thousands of miles on them. By the way. I had the engine rebuilt at a local. highly skilled machine shop that rebuilds many engines for everything from diesel tractors to highly modified and very expensive race cars. and I have all of the receipts for the rebuild parts and the receipts for the labor from the shop where the work was done. Also. the title is clear and is in my name. I will hate to see it sell because I know I will probably never get another chance to own a truck like this. Please note. I will need a $250 deposit within 24 hrs after the auction closes and the truck must be paid for and picked up within three weeks after the end of the action unless other arrangements are made. I will assist in loading the truck onto a flatbed or any other form of transport the buyer or the shipper has brought to transport the truck. I have tried hard to tell you what I know about the truck and give you a good description. but take a look at the photos. and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask and I will do my best to answer them. and thanks for viewing this auction! Also. I forgot to mention that the truck does come with a tailgate. not shown in the photos. in case you want to take the canopy off and use the open bed with the tailgate for hauling cargo etc.
