Ad revisions: 11/21/17 - video of cold start today - https://youtu.be/HhcOTZjLMJo 11/21/17 - better pictures from today with soft top and hard top Correctly restored and highly optioned Corvette convertible with original matching numbers 327-350 hp motor-transmission-differential, factory original body/trim tag, and Silver Pearl paint with a factory installed black leather interior. The odometer is at 56,100 miles but the car is titled with the mileage exempt.
A premium body-off restoration was performed in 1997-8 by the highly acclaimed Nabers Brothers of Houston and is documented. These restorations are ~$100,000 if purchased today.
Awards include Bloomington Gold (1998), National Corvette Restorers Society (NCRS) Regional Top Flight (Frisco, TX, 2015), and NCRS National Top Flight (96.9% score, San Antonio, TX, July 2017).
History: GM official production date is 2/3/1965 and was delivered to Richardson Chevrolet in Houston per NCRS Shipping Data Report (included). Original purchaser was Harry Pearce and delivered new on 2/9/1965. Subsequent owners included two well know mid-year Corvette collectors Greg Heinrich (who did the restoration) and Bruce Knieram.
Documentation: original owner's manual, original warranty booklet (Protect-O-Plate), NCRS GM Shipping Report, a high quality reproduction window sticker, judging sheets, ribbons/awards, and confirmation of the restoration from Nabers Brothers.
Options: Black leather (402AA), A/C (C60), power windows (A31), power steering (N40), telescopic steering column (N36), beautiful NOS unrestored teakwood steering wheel (N32), 3.70 posi-traction differential (G81), AM/FM radio (U69), off-road exhaust (N11), and tinted glass-all windows (A01).
Major items correct and if applicable properly date stamped: original engine block (F0128), transmission (P0130), starter motor (4G9), 55 amp alternator (4M19), Holley 4 barrel carburetor (4A3), intake manifold (3844467), radiator (64L), outside bowtie mirror (12-DMI-4), windshield (VG), driver glass (JG, AG), passenger glass (JG, JG), expansion tank (64M), soft top rear window (12-64).
The hard top is in excellent condition however the rear window is dated late 1963 (HT 963) and I'm unsure if it was replaced or delivered that way.
Other items: 1) The A/C system was restored and converted to R134 in 2015 using Classic Auto Air Mfg. of Dallas in 2015. It runs properly and blows cold and received a score of 23/27 at the NCRS National.2) The transmission was rebuilt in 2015 as a precautionary measure as it was unknown when it was last serviced. 3) The exterior badges were replaced with the correct 1965 orange/red GM service replacements in 2017. 4) The wheels and hub-caps (GM service replacements) were replaced in 2015. 5) The fuel filler lid (GM service replacement) was replaced in 2017 because of cracks in the plastic of the existing one. 6) The electric antenna and motor were correctly restored in 2016 by NCRS expert Greg Thompson and received no deductions. 7) The right turn signal return cam is inop and does not reset the turn signal. 8) the soft top has a gap of approximately ¼" (max) between the drivers and passenger windows and the soft top with the windows closed.
Operations: The car received an Operations score of 100% at the 2017 NCRS National event. It runs, shifts, brakes and handles perfectly. It does not smoke and requires NO added oil between the 1,000 mile changes I have done. Cold start is immediate with proper choke function and RPMs. All other operational systems (except the right turn signal return mechanism) are fully functional.
One of the key highlights with this car is the paint. It was restored by Nabers with the proper lacquer paint and is in excellent condition with the proper "orange peel" finish. At the NCRS 2017 National it received an outstanding 45/45 points for originality and 38/40 points for condition. The NCRS lead Exterior judge told me the judges were "in love" with the paint job.
Results from 2017 NCRS National Judging: Overall 96.9%, Operations 100%, Interior 97.0%, Exterior 96.4%, Mechanical 97.0%, Chassis 93.4%.
