Description of 1948 Chevrolet Other Fleetline

1948 Chevy barn find: The originality on this car is fantastic right down to the push button radio and the little original leather tads on the inside visors. These old two doors, in driving condition, are hard to find. I am listing this vehicle for a family friend.. It's an original never restored, never wrecked, never repainted with only 59 thousand on the odometer. It had been in heated garage for 25 years. The car was owned by a doctor who bought it new and had it undercoated hence it is pretty much rust free. Vin number matches the title. The car came equipped with two heaters, one under the front seat for added comfort for rear seat passengers. This car came from an estate sale and was the pride of an old time Indiana family doctor. (Back when they made house calls) She is a one owner car. Still has the Medical Sticker in back window.
It was bought in a 3 car deal at an Estate sale and was shipped out here to Ca.. I would like to see this Chevy go to someone who likes early Original GM cars. Again here are the pluses: It has never been wrecked or repainted. It runs and drives like a good old 46 47 48 Chevy should. Was undercoated when new and has spent most of its life garaged, so there are no rust issues.
Has 3 speed on column with an overdrive which is a a very rare option. Good clutch shifts smooth, no chatter. It has several new upgrades. New master cylinder and rebuilt brake system, a brand new aluminum radiator. (She will idle all day and never overheat.) Does not burn oil. All the gauges work plus the original clock. It has the original push button radio. Has working lights plus after market back-up light and turn signals. New gas tank and fuel lines. All the glass is good except driver door glass has a crack. The seats are original and pretty rough as is the headliner and door cards. New Coker white walls, and original wheels and hub caps. I have lots of receipts for what has been done on the car.
The negatives would be: Rubber floor mats are hard and brittle. Needs shocks. Heater is unhooked. If I were to keep it I would paint it, steam clean the underside to get rid of old grease, mud and flaking undercoat. But to keep the price down and to reveal the original skin we are selling it as is with the old patina..
This is a great price for a 1948 car that you can drive home in. Please call 714 244 63 five three and make an appointment to come see it and drive it. It has a clear Indiana title. Actual miles is 59 thousand. This is a barn find not a show car...I have some video of me driving it, I could try to send it to you if you request it, or you can see it on You-Tube
  • The car is complete and has that "barn find" patina everyone likes. The wood-grain is very nice. Solid floors. Glass in very good shape. When it was taken out of storage a new exhaust system was installed. Also new radiator, gas tank and fuel lines. The front and back seats have wear issues. This is a no reserve auction and has a low starting price. The car is here in my garage in Orange California. I can assist with shipping arrangements. The vehicle does not leave until funding is completed.
Bank transfer or cash works best. ABSOLUTELY NO PAY-PAL Please ask your questions before you bid. This is a turn key runner. I would love to tinker with it myself but at 76 I just don't have the desire to own another antique car.No rocket science here just be a normal person who can afford a hobby car and who understands the limitations of a 70 year old vehicle. The car is for sale locally so the auction is subject to premature end. Positive feedback always given in return for same. Thanks for looking. Tom, retired is sunny Orange Ca.
