Description of 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Spyder |
1963 Corvair and Spyder Convertible6 cylinder 150 HP Turbocharged engine and 4 speed manual transmissionHas been parked for a few years. The car runs, drives and stops. I was told the engine and turbo had been rebuilt at some point but don't have paperwork on it. I pulled it out of storage, put new gas and a battery in it and it seems to run pretty good, but will likely need a tune up and some gaskets. The transmission shifts good and through all gears. The clutch seems to work good also. I put a new master cylinder on and it will need wheel cylinders also but it does stop. The tires have good tread but are old. All the gauges on the dash appear to be working. The glass is all there. The door gaps are good and it is pretty straight with just a couple small dings. Some rust on the bottom corners of the doors on the outside and some on the lower rockers behind the trim but not in the structural part of the car. Also a little bit on the rear wheel opening lip on the outside and a small hole in the front trunk about the size of a pencil eraser. I don't see any rust in the floor at all. I would say the rust on this car is pretty minimal. The paint looks original but I think it may have one repaint over it from a long time ago. The convertible top material is trashed, but the frame is nice and goes up and down easy and latches nice. No power top. I have a new white top with the back window (still in the package) that goes with the car. The red interior looks to be original and in good shape. The carpet is newer. It has a tonnou cover that snaps on and has the covers for the top of the seats. I bought this car with the intention of restoring it because it is complete, solid with minimal rust. No butchered wiring and doesn't appear to be missing anything. I didn't do a compression or leak down test on the motor but it does idle and drive pretty good for a car that's been sitting for a while. I can see the intake gaskets leaking a bit when the turbo makes boost. The car has a clean California Title in my name with current tags on it. I will not ship the car but will assist with getting it on a trailer or truck. It is at my shop in Grover Beach, Califonia zip is 93433. I'm halfway between LA and San Francisco in San Luis Obispo county. I feel I have described the car pretty accurately but opinions of condition do vary so I suggest looking at the car in person if possible as I will not guarantee anything. Cash is preferred but if you want to pay by paypal or check the money will have to clear my bank before I release the car. I'm an honest guy and would appreciate doing business with another honest person. Feel free to contact me but dont ask if I want to trade for something or if there is a buy it now price. There is No Reserve and I won't end it early. I would like the car picked up within 15 days of the auction ending. I have several pictures so if you want to see more send me your email and I will get them to you. Thanks,RickRickholleyflooring@gmail.com If you go to you tube and type in 1963 Corvair running you can see the video of the car running!
