Description of 1952 Chevrolet Other Pickups short bed |
Daily driver, built on 1989 S10 chassis. The 1952 truck originally came off a Texas ranch some years ago. It has several bullet holes with the most noticeable in the driver's door and back glass, which was fractured by the bullet into a cobweb pattern that I think is beautiful. The donor vehicle was a running and driving rust free 1989 S-10. The 1952 cab was sectioned onto the S-10 so that the S-10 floor and firewall was used. This provided the look of the old truck with the drivability of a more modern truck. The S-10 bed floor and tailgate were used. The new bed sides were fabricated from 18 gauge steel. I epoxy primed, then painted the fabricated parts to match the body color and coated with red oxide to resemble the rest of the 1952 patina. It still has the original fenders, which retain their patina. I installed new glass windshield and door roll-up glass on both sides. The corner glasses, back glass and small corner windows in the doors are still original. The back window has a bullet hole which I filled with panel bond. New window rubbers and seals in the door. The windows work well with some effort due to the new seals. The gauges visible in the dash do not work. One is a retrofitted 1972 speedometer that should work, but I never connected it. There are oil pressure and temp gauges under the dash that do work. The seat is a bench seat from the S10 that is worn but comfortable. The doors have surface rust along the bottom, the only other rust is perforation in the cab corners. I haven't seen any filler in this truck. There is a 15 gallon fuel cell in the bed. The crate engine came out of a retired fleet vehicle that I had. The engine has @15,000 miles on it and the 400 turbo had less than 5,000 miles. The rear axle is the S-10 axle. I added the Edelbrock intake and carburetor last year. Clean title in my name for the 1989 S10. This has been part of my fleet of daily drivers for 2 years. Mostly driven in town as a shop truck. I can provide a bill of sale for the cab ID number, which is still in place. I don't know the mileage of the S-10 donor for sure. I recall 140,000 but not for certain.
