The El Camino was first produced in 1959 ABOUT 2nd Generation El Camino: In our research we found El Camino's had a limited production - in 1965 total of 34,724 produced. Production of 1964 El Camino Total 32,548 and the 1966 El Camino Total was 35,119, with the 1967 El Camino Total of 34,830. Finding a 1965 in this solid excellent condition is like finding a high quality gem. Chevy introduced the second generation El Camino based on the Chevelle model that lasted only until 1967. The '65 El Camino received a body upgrade to match the Chevelle model for that year. The front end was shaped like almost like an arrow, or "V", which gave the Chevelle a sleeker, more aerodynamic look that fed into the muscle car appeal. Chevy at last offered a more powerful 396 cubic inch V8 engine (6.5 liter) with a horsepower rating of 325 to 375 for the 1966 El Camino. The 396 V8 in this '65 was an upgrade made by an owner to this 1965 El Camino. So much fun to drive as a muscle car. About the production sequential starting number: The sequential starting number for the 1965 Chevelle was 100001 at all U.S. Chevelle assembly plants. Each assembly plant sequenced Chevelle's of all series/models without regard to specific series / models. For example, if a series 13435 station wagon followed a 13667 Malibu convertible, the sequence number would be one unit higher for the wagon. It's also entirely possible to have the same sequence number from all five 1965 U.S. assembly plants with the only difference between the VIN's being the plant code. Production at the Kansas City plant exceeded 100,000 units sometime in mid to late June so the VIN sequence from that time frame to the end of production would be 2nnnnn for the Kansas City plant. 1965 El Camino you own a piece of the past. So popular, models were built to scale as collectibles They're often referred to as cars, trucks, and sometimes even "crucks" - but we think of them as just really cool. The Chevy El Camino, a name that comes from the Spanish word that defines; "the road" or "the path." She is built on the A-body platform (as were all '64-'87's). This El Camino was a combination of the raw performance and handsome styling of the Chevelle / Malibu, while offering vehicle buyers the utility of a pickup truck - all in one awesome beautiful and functional package. First introduced on October 16, 1958, Chevrolet began to sell a car-truck hybrid that it called the El Camino. It inspired by the Ford Ranchero that had already been on the market for two years. The 1959 El Camino was a combination sedan-pickup truck built on the Impala body, with the same "cat's eye" taillights and dramatic rear fins. Knobs, levers, headlamps, horn, wipers, tail and signal lights, etc have been checked by Team Vehltor® and also an outside vehicle service company inspected this vehicle — things on this vehicle are in proper working condition, no worries! (If we found something anywher, see NOTE below and red text.) Interior: Exceptionally well done inside, most of it's like new. See mention and photos on some pitting on chrome on center console. Otherwise all chrome on the entire vehicle is outstanding and appears like new. Seats, door panels, dash, glass are all in excellent condition. Please review the ad text description in all areas and captions under the photos for known details about condition of the interior. Exterior: Exceptionally clean and solid in every way - all around, underneath (see all photos). One tire has the slightest spot of dry rot starting on the inside, the other three none was noted (quite common if your car sits for long periods of time in balmy Florida, or maybe parked near a heat vent while stored). Please review the text description for more details about condition of the exterior. Overall the exterior looks like new.
NOTE: #1) APPEARANCE ITEMS: There's a couple paint blems, again they are shown in blem area below. #2) Tiny scratch in one chrome trim piece (see blem area) Anything we mention noted - you can see it in blem areas section. #3) Passenger side vent window chrome trim deteriorated in one corner, trim needs replaced (see blem area). Mechanically: The engine fires right up, runs so smooth. Pump the pedal twice and away you go. The mechanic who inspected this 1965 El Camino comment was "over all nice ride". It deed she is. Just a couple things were noted that need attending. A couple small leaks were noted mechanically: see the mechanic inspection PDF for the entire report - oil seal and pan gasket needed; transmission cooler and output shaft seal on the transmission seeping. One starter bolt should be replaced. Back up lights do not work, high beam dash indicator not working (high beams work great). 4-way flasher knob will not depress (steering wheel trim from the sport steering wheel prevents it from being depressed for 4-way flashers). Otherwise ready for the road. Just fill it up with gas and this rocket will soar to high speed smoothly!!
