Description of 1985 Chevrolet C/K Pickup 1500 GMC High Sierra |
1985 GMC HIGH SIERRA K1500 4 WHEEL DRIVE "California Barn Find" ~One of a kind ~Original Paint a True Survivor ~One Senior Owner for 33 years ~Only 3400 miles Averaged per year ~ Special Specific Factory Ordered Options ~Once in a lifetime time capsule that cannot be duplicated ~They are Only Original Once NO RESERVE AUCTION BID TO WIN Up for bid is a once in a life time opportunity to purchase a piece of California history that would be impossible to duplicate. This 1985 GMC High Sierra K1500 4 Wheel Drive pickup is from the Estate of a retired 98 year old United States Goverment mining engineer who worked in the original mining of Uranium for the Manhattan Project and in his retirement owned several gold mines in the Sierra Nevada mountains. He ordered this truck originaly from MeL Rapton GMC on Fulton Blvd in Sacramento over 30 plus years ago. This "High Sierra"was his pride and joyand his baby has been in storage for years. The bed had a custom Gem Top shell and Bedliner installed when it was new and untill this week the original Desert Sand bed had not seen the light of day since 1985 when Ronald Regan was President. The truck was parked indoors in a special climate controlled barn/building on his property which has protected it from exposure. The bed looks as it did when it left Mel Rapton GMC almost 33 years ago. That is very difficult to duplicate in a 4 wheel drive pickup that is 33 model years old. The former owner only averaged 3400 miles per year and was very meticulous in it's maintence even when the truck was not being used he still maintianed. Every single documentation from the original purchase order was kept in a file. I have never seen any vehicle in any price range that has as an extensive detailed history. This is a Special Factory Ordered truck with all the right options including the most powerful and highest torque "LS9- 5.7L V8" available, the 700R4 Automatic with overdrive, "G-80" Locking differential the optional "G-U4" 3.08 axle ratio for maximum fuel economy. It is difficult to imagine that in 2018 you could still find an original California survivor with original paint especially in a desirable 4 wheel drive pickup. The 1973-1987 General Motors C/K series is #3 on the Forbes magizine hottest collectible cars you should buy for investment. Here is a chance to grab some California Gold for yourself High Sierra nuggets are getting hard to duplicate..... Click on the white arrow below
85 GMC California Gold 1985 GMC High Sierra 4x4 - YouTube Video will open in a new window WHAT IS A SURVIVOR CAR? Survivors differ from barn finds. (this Survivor is actually from a Sacramento climate controlled barn) They have usually been cared for andlast decades as a daily driver, or are carefully stored and maintained enough where you can start it with nothing more than a new battery. A survivor car may be in perfectcondition. It may have been kept undercover and only driven to town for weekly supplies. They usually have very low mileage and are often left in the most original state, with factory fitted accessories, original engine bay labels, and factory finished paint. The perfect survivor car is still owned by the first owner who might have log books, service history, receipts and even the original delivery docket. In other words most trucks that look like this on Ebay are completley decked out in aftermarket parts from LMC or Classic Endustries or any host of others that reproduced original General Motors trim, chrome, body panels, interior pieces like seat covers, dash covers, mis trim with CHEAP CHINESE OR CHEAP TAIWANESEor any other "ESE" country that manufactures inferior Reproduction parts for American Companies that sell on the internet that were originaly made by General Motors 3 decades ago. "They dont make em any more" so people who restore vintage General Motors trucks and who repaint and replace much of the truck with Asian reproductions make a repainted truck with poor quality parts that to me would not qualify as a Survivor Car or Truck They are only original once..... Don't miss out on this rare find They are only original once. It would be difficult to replace this rare optioned classic Cheyenne 4x4 SWB with original paint in actuality it is difficult to find any car or truck especially a General Motors product much less a 4 wheel drive truck with 40 year old paint. That is fact. Original paint is original paint it's impossible to duplicate because trucks were purchased for work and over a period of years common sense dictates that by this age most are worn out especially 4 wheel drives that had a more limited production geared to people who needed 4 wheel drive in 1978 (unlike today) typically in snow country where rust is an issue that is not the case with this vehicle. In reality anybody can piece together an old Square Body truck with cheap Taiwanese and Chinese reproduction parts bought on the internet .Those reproduction body, trim, interior parts are in my opinion all of an inferior quality than what was originally made by General Motors To me it seems crazy to bring an American classic back to life with cheap Asian made reproduction pieces but the fact is GM doesn't make them anymore and fewer and fewer survivors are left at any price. The original front bumper is twice as heavy as the reproduction bumpers this grille which is near mint still has the original bright color emblem in the center something you will never find in a cheap reproduction the real stuff is metal not plastic. This truck is the real deal with the original General Motors parts that it left the factory with 33 years ago. Anybody can restore a truck but you can't remake original. If you are looking for the real deal this is it if you have any questions or concerns regarding this vehicle please ask any questions before you place a bid. This vehicle is being sold with NO RESERVE and will sell to the last bidder. If you are interested in making an offer Please dont email and ask what I will sell it for it is being sold to the high bidder but reserve the right to sell it if the price is right. I am really not sure what the value is but I am sure it's a one of a kind that can't be duplicated Thank you and good luck TERMS OF SALE I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO:
