In its original incarnation, this Chevy 3100 was a member of a line of 4-wheel workhorses that did the heavy lifting as America experienced its post-WWII construction boom. Exceptionally well-repurposed, it wears its battle cars proudly and is no mere high-stanced novelty, but rather a thoughtfully engineered, one-of-a-kind badass truck with a strong-running drivetrain and bona fide off-road prowess. Your pulse would certainly quicken if you were to gaze into your rear-view mirror and see this 3100 approaching. Its original, timelessly rugged 3100 look has been left entirely intact - and just a quick glance indicates that it was a good move. Step around to the front and you'll see a determined grimace on its face-like headlights and front grille, as if preparing to go into battle. This evidence of this truck's more than six decades of toil has been allowed to show through clearly, yet it inhabits a solid, sturdy body with panels that sit impressively flush. The clean glass and chrome on the front and rear bumpers provides an effective visual contrast to the rest of the body. You can't help but notice its elevation, a feature gained not by an improvised backyard modification, but by the installation of a Pro Comp lift kit, to insure it's been done right. A surprise is in store as you open the door and climb inside. Considering the rugged appearance of the exterior, you'd expect a fairly spartan environment inside, but what you'll find instead is a thoroughly well-appointed and comfortable interior. The bench seat combines cloth and vinyl to good effect and is very comfortable and well-padded and an added center console provides storage space, as well as a couple of cup holders that come in handy while on the road. Direct your attention forward and you'll see a thoroughly prepped and painted turquoise dash area behind the matching tilt column that brings the steering wheel within comfortable reach. Its wedge-shaped instrument cluster carries an assortment of white-faced Dolphin gauges, while just to the right an AM/FM/CD player sits ready to provide your roadbound soundtrack. The underdash A/C system is a welcome comfort feature, and it's in fine form to keep you and your passengers comfortable. The bed area also checks out well - its floor is lined with wooden planks that show no splintering set between steel ribs that sit nice and flat, and there are no signs of obvious dents on the bed walls or liftgate. This venerable truck is configured to be more than a tall-standing novelty, and it's carrying the components to give it serious prowess should you choose to disembark from the asphalt. A smooth running 350 V8 is underneath the hood, with a Holley 4-barrel on top and a mild cam inside for some extra power. It's mated with a 4-speed 700r4 automatic overdrive transmission that provides great gearing for strong off the line acceleration, as well as low RPMs on the highway. Adjust the control lever sitting just in front of the bench seat and you have a legit, powerful 4-wheel drive off-road vehicle, with the ample tire clearance to go along with it. These components sit on a circa '80's Chevy Blazer frame that provides the structural integrity not possible with the original undercarriage. This truly unique vintage truck sits on a set of 20" custom rims, wrapped with Toyo Open Country tires.
