Description of 1959 Chevrolet Other Pickups |
If you are shopping for a great opportunity to buy a Rare unrestored barn find "patina" truck to drive around and have fun in this Summer. or want an awesome "shop truck" which are also in high demand. then this may be the one you are looking for. This is a 1959 Chevrolet SHORT bed Pickup truck that came from the factory with the highly sought after Big Rear Window (called Panoramic glass). it also came with the similarly highly sought after factory 283 V8 and 3 speed manual trans - both engine and trans were already gone when I got it but that's the fun part for you - you wanted to install that cool LS motor you have in the garage anyway right? Lastly. it also came from the factory with the highly sought after "700" paint code which means it was solid Jet Black - for an original restoration where the paint code matters. this Black code is VERY desirable - for that matter. the same can be said of Hot Rodders - every person who ever sees your old truck will ask what color it was originally. and when you can say and prove it was really a factory all-Black one you have something people really admire. This truck is very solid for a 56 yr old Big Window truck. and unlike 99% of the 59's you will see. this one is not only a Short bed. but a big window AND factory V8 frame!! Good luck finding one worth 10 dollars that has the tri-fecta this one does in those features - add a solid straight body and WOW! Sky's the limit with how cool this truck could be for minimal effort. NO RESERVE!!! THIS TRUCK ENDS FOR WHATEVER IT BRINGS!!!! Lots of questions for you to ask. so just TEXT or call me at 256 486 1988 BODY: best to view my "You Tube" video for this - copy and paste in your browser YOU TUBE VIDEO LINK: http://youtu. be/WC1vS-7fUNg pictures are so hard to tell anything from. but a lengthy well shot video will tell you everything you need to know. For those of you who are not computer literate. ther body can be described this way - it is mostly solid and straight with a small thin bondo patch on the lower section of the pass side front fender. and someone has repaired the door bottoms and cab corners previously and that work definitely needs to be redone. Both steps are about 85% to 90% solid. but again - most people would replace them unless you are only building a shop truck. Hood and front radiator related sheetmetal. grille. front bumper and inner fenders are all perfectly straight and rust free. Cab has a small hole on each side of the floorboard where the toe board starts to bend upwards from the flat part of the floor. Very small areas to patch and overall a great big window cab no doubt. No rust above the windshield or drip rail inside or outside. Front bed panel is rusted out. but both box sides and both fenders are in nearly perfect undented shape with no visible rust through - tailgate is also very straight and nice - no welded in steel box floor like so many truck have so that is a BIG plus in my book. so overall minus the rust in the front bed panel. I's say thi is an unusually nice. well above average short stepside bed. No spare cutout either - its the good one that never had a side mount spare. So. you are going to need door bottoms. steps and cab corners. and I believe that is it. The rest you can repair the usual body shop way with a wire welder and a little love. Very straight dent free and mostly rust free hard to find truck. ENGINE & DRIVETRAIN: This truck was special ordered with the factory installed 283 V8 engine which for 55-59 trucks is quite rare to find - the original engine and 3 speed trans are gone. but the frame is a factory V8 frame so it has the special bradded on V8 engine mounts ready to go for your Corvetter engine swap or whatever you desire. very very very hard to find a short bed factory V8 frame in perfect condition like this one has. Also still has the correct factory V8 geared rear end too - typically higher gears were used in factory V8 trucks vs 6 cyl equipped frames. TIRES / WHEELS: tires are simply rollers as far as I know - they are whatever came on it when I got it. ELECTRICAL AND GLASS: Electrical appears to be all in tact and not butchered so should be easy to make it run with whatever you install for a drivetrain. but I still recommend a painless wiring harness for safety and convenience to hook up all your cool gadgets. Drivers wing vent is missing. and windshield is cracked significantly enough it needs replacement. SHIPPING / TITLE = this truck is located in Joppa Alabama 35087 and if you live in a bordering state. I can arrange shipping on my trailer for a fee. Otherwise your shipper has to come here to get it. In Alabama we do not have titles on vehicles older than 1974 (Thank God) so all other title-requiring states have a simple method where you will take a copy of my registration (what we use that looks like a title) and a bill of sale. and they will all make you a title no problem - all other states' DMV's are all well aware of Alabama's title policy and have a standard method set up to deal with non-title bearing vehicles. So don't worry about your title - they will give you one easy enough. YOU TUBE VIDEO LINK: http://youtu. be/WC1vS-7fUNg |
